Nagoya Castle
Nagoya Castle is right in the heart of Nagoya, and is very famous for its golden shachihoko (a mythical creature with a tiger's head and carp's body) figures on the roof. Ieyasu Tokugawa, the first shogun who established the Edo shougunate, built it in 1521. The main part of the castle was rebuilt after the war, and now you can climb to the top to feel like being a shogun to govern the country.
Atsutajingu
Atsuta Jingu Shrine is the second highest rank shrine of Japan, founded in the 8th century. It occupies a big area with huge woods in the metropolitan atomosphere of Nagoya, and there are always many people coming for all kinds of prayers. The woods are full of sacred and reverent feelings, and makes you feel something divine inside yourself, too.

Our tour guide was Todd Miura who was a fantastic tour guide. He was a fountain of knowledge and we learned a lot from him. It was our first time on the subways here in Nagoya and Todd made this a stressfree experience. Even though it was raining we had a great day. Thank you very much Todd and hopefully other travelers will get lucky and have you as their tour guide.

Our tour guide, Hisato took us to the highlights of Nagoya. She was very punctual and met us at the designated pick up sight. She guided us on how to use the public transportation and stayed with us until we boarded the train back to the cruise ship. She is very knowledgeable about history of the places we visited and took us to the best restaurant where we had the best tasting eel .

Toshie was an excellent guide. She knew what food and activities would appeal to both the adults and teenagers in our group. She was knowledgeable about history but also helped us know the "must sees" at the sites we visited. We would absolutely tour with Toshie again!

Todd Miura was an excellent guide. He shared his knowledge of the Nagoya Castle. He brought us to a nice place for lunch. He even setup a visit Arimatsu for the tie dye museum where we were able to observe the artisans while they worked.

We were set to explore Nagoya from a cruise ship, however a typhoon caused us to divert to another port at the last minute. Japan Guide agency was very understanding of our dilemma and promptly refunded our booking. Their professionalism was our silver lining during this unfortunate situation. We hope to book with them again when we have a chance to return to Nagoya.

I highly recommend Todd! He was extremely knowledgeable and a great English speaker! In addition, he was so helpful even before the tour started. He kept us apprised of the weather, the amount of cash we would need for select spots, etc. He was great and this tour was really wonderful!
