This was walking tour with budding Nairobi author Muthonia Maina. ("The Leaves of May", "Mara the Marabout Stork" ...) We went to Nuria Bookstore, National Theatre, Nairobi University, and the Fairmont Hotel, where Ernest Hemingway used to hangout, and slugged a couple of drinks. Hard to escape Hemingway. He seems to have been everywhere. And all the while Muthonia and I talked about writers and writing and even recited Shakespeare to each other. This was so rich an experience I am thinking about doing a second Lit and Art tour with some other venues included. The tour got me all worked up! It was a book safari without the 4-wheel drive and the binoculars.
