This full-day Zanzibar boat trip combines two of the island’s most iconic experiences - a visit to Prison Island with its ancient Aldabra tortoises, and a dreamy escape to the Nakupenda Beach Sandbank for swimming, snorkeling, and a fresh seafood BBQ.
You’ll start your day feeding friendly giants in a historical prison-turned-conservation site. Then, sail across dazzling turquoise waters to a sandbank that shifts with the tide, where white sand meets the horizon and the water is so clear it feels unreal.

My tour started slightly after 9:30 once the boats and groups were organized. I was in a group of 9 people, together with an English and Italian speaking guides. Both guides took so much care about us. We had fun on the boat when singing all kind of songs. We visited the prison, has some free time to see around, then we went to see the turtles. After that we went to Nakupenda where we had a nice food prepared directly on the beach. Take suncream with you as there might not be enought space to hide yourself in the shade. Nevertheless, it was nice experience to see the local people to do the barbecue. There was rice, french fries, sauce, seafood and fruits. Water was provided during whole trip. The only thing I expected better was nice snorchelling but unfortunately, there was no place in the sea to do it. One side of the island had big waves and on the other side where the sea was calm, clear and deep enough, there were plenty of boats. Thus do not expect much when it comes to the snorchelling. There were also no starfish during that day. Maybe you will be luckier. Have fun! I can recommend. Once you book, get in touch with the nice tour provider to determine the start of the tour.

Great experience. The captain was knowledgeable and is kindness. I was a solo traveler and he made me comfortable with his conversation. I think to return again next year with my friend
