Start your exploration at Nara Park. Here you can have the experience of feeding rice crackers to deer. Deer are considered messengers of the gods in Shinto beliefs, and hundreds of them roam freely here.
Then visit Kasuga Taisha, a shrine known for its deep historical roots and surrounded by a mysterious forest where divine spirits are believed to reside. The shrine is famous for its thousands of hanging lanterns, which illuminate the streets with their serene light, especially during festivals.
Also you can visit to Todaiji Temple, which is one of heritage site. It is a most famous temple in Nara, not only allows visitors to see with their own eyes one of the world's largest wooden structures, designated as a national treasure, but also to feel its 1,300 years of history.

Nara Park
Nara Park is the best landmark to interact with real deer. You can feed the deer special treats, watch them live a leisurely life up close, and enjoy an elegant time as if time has stopped.
The vermilion-lacquered shrine pavilions, thousands of lanterns, and the Manyo Botanical Garden are the most glorious highlights of the shrine. You will be thrilled by its vivid space.

You expect to see the deer but there is actually so much more in the Nara area. Hiro our tour guide took took us all around Nara showing us the temples and historical areas that provided context to why the deer are there.

Our Guide Yasuko was just perfect - in every sense. Coming from Nara herself, she helped us understand its history, religious and social meaning, as well as its architectural treasures. All embedded in vivid stories and anecdotes that brought the past to life. We would never have spotted these little highlights all along the way. This tour will place Nara on a special place from our stay in Japan: very to recommend. We even received a little, personal farewell gift - that we treasure to bring home. Simply: Thank you!
