This is a wild and scenic coastal walk with views of waves breaking on the granite boulders. The first part of the trail is through patches of open woodland areas, small river valleys and over exposed, rocky ridges. Enjoy spectacular views across the sea over Silhouette and North islands.
The trail continues over Glacis slopes, stretching above and below the path. The vegetation is mostly endemic and indigenous species, adapted to survive in such harsh conditions. Endemic birds such as Bulbul, Blue Pigeon Sunbirds may be seen. To get to the main beach, you must cross a small river outlet which emerges from a brackish water marsh. The sandy beach invites relaxation or snorkeling on the reef.

My guide, Desmond, was a mine of information about every aspect of Anse Major. Patient but always totally engaged with the client experience. Easily worth the small extra for such a guide, otherwise you’ll be aware of 10% of what there is to see and its relevance and importance to the ecosystem.

The weather and the sea are not favorable in this period, we were ill-advised at the start, so I would recommend to inquire at this local agency, to get all the useful and necessary advice. The agency assisted us in every step, with precision, punctuality, professionalism and timeliness, they were very fast in responding to every need. Each island has its own dedicated team, they were all very good, but a particular praise goes to Robert, who adds to the qualities already mentioned, sympathy.

Discovery day with a beautiful walk. The explanations in the guide on plants were really interesting. After boarding a catamaran for snorkelling and discovering a beautiful secluded beach. Hearty meals on board. Excursion to advise
