Moulin a Maree du Birlot
One of the few tidal mills in France When the sea rises, a dyke retains water. It is impermeable because every year a volunteer site collects the mud to clog the dam. To grind the grain, a valve is opened to mechanically actuate the mill wheel. Barley, oats, buckwheat and wheat used to be ground here, especially from the island opposite, Benigut, where several families lived. They crossed by a causeway of which nothing remains, first looted to build houses then washed away by the tides. The interior is visited in summer, it pays, at symbolic price, for the association that preserves the place.
Citadelle
The famous South Island fortress, it now houses art glassmakers
History anecdotes, botanical and naturalistic knowledge, geology, tidal phenomenon

The two groups of 30 people appreciated the very professional yet educational explanations, in a very good atmosphere, about the flora and fauna of Brehat.

Awesome discovery with this local guide who speaks English and knows how to make his passion contagious. He walks your pace, answer your questions, make everything interesting even stuff you did not see at first. The best way to discover the land of Bretagne!

We took a very informative walk in a beautiful setting, accompanied by our guide Ewen. His explanations allowed us to better understand the island's botany and its biodiversity. Patrick and Paula

A very beautiful discovery of the island of Bréhat with Ewen. A passionate and engaging guide. Very attentive to our wishes and the physical abilities of our group! He shared his little secret spots away from tourism, stunning views, and high-quality botanical explanations, along with a tasting discovery of wild plants... Ewen is a nature lover! See you very soon... one day was not enough given how much there is to discover. Ewen is a bottomless well of botanical knowledge (both terrestrial and marine), geological insights, and island ecosystems... to be listened to without moderation.

A passionate and exciting walk from Brehat with Ewen, who knows her rock as well as her pocket, and who has explained to us - even in November when plants patiently wait for spring to reborn - a whole lot about algae, geology, plants. Thank you!!!
