Neuschwanstein Castle
This where the tour starts and you meet your guide. After that, it will be a 2 hour journey to Neuschwanstein.
Schloss Neuschwanstein
Schloss Neuschwanstein, often known as Germany’s "Cinderella castle," was actually the inspiration for a different Disney story, the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle at Disneyland. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you’ll receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue. Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

Overall well worth the trip and good value. Our guide Charlie was excellent - very experienced and knew how to balance great story telling, giving instructions in bite sized chunks, and giving the group some space. Definitely a lot of walking but an inexpensive bus is there at the base of the castle to handle some of the steep stuff if you prefer. The view from the bridge is one of the most breathtaking views you’ll ever see. Just seeing that is worth the trip. The bridge itself has some wobbly boards and has so many people on it, so people who are leery of heights may not want to venture out (but it’s not needed to get to the castle). The tour of the castle itself is short (30 minutes) and doesn’t need to be longer. It was the least fun part of the trip. Make time to visit the lake. You do have time to jump in if you want to bring a suit. Such clear blue water. All in all well worth the trip. We were skeptical after a horrible trip to Hallstatt but this one was great. Our two teenage boys didn’t even complain and actually had fun.

Deysi, our tour guide was very patient, informative & approachable during the tour. The driver Sacha was very skilled but a bit grumpy relative to Deysi's cheerful ways. Wish castle visitors are allowed to take photos inside since we paid for it anyway just like when one goes to Louvre! Also, please have more dining options in the village to cater to Asian tourists.

Going on a tour made the experience a total breeze. I read online that you can’t even tour the castle without a guided group so I was happy that I was apart of one. It allowed the perfect amount of time to hike up to the castle, tour the castle, get the iconic picture from the bridge and enjoy a cold beverage before the bus back. Wouldn’t do it any other way. Loved the “no stress” feeling. Highly recommend. Comfortable ride. Informative and entertaining guide.
