We lived this tour, Jose was very informative not only on the Santa Fe food scene, but the history of the city!

We enjoy food tours when visiting areas we are not familiar with. The reason is that the wealth of local knowledge combined with local foods makes for a deepened experience. Jose was fantastic in his expertise and the cultural depths that come forth from certain dishes. Very glad we booked this tour as we not only had a taste of Santa Fe, but a taste of the history and culture of this wonderful location. Highly recommend!

This was a must try for first-timers in Santa Fe and Jose Lopez was a great guide. Our small group of six was perfect for conversation and seating and Jose gave us lots of information on Sante Fe and New Mexico history and food culture. They were not kidding when the description said come hungry because the tasting left us feeling full. The food was very good and the margaritas were a good example of styles in the area. We had a great time.

What a fabulous mixture of history, culture and food. Jose was fantastic and able to layer his personal history. This was one of the highlights to our trip to Santa Fe.

Jose is a good story teller, who knows a lot about Santa Fe history, food history, and culture, so he talked about these almost non-stop. The result: a lot of listening, and a lot to learn about Santa Fe culture. Jose excels in this category! However, since this was a food tasting tour, we were disappointed in the restaurants and food choices. I noticed that all eleven people in our tour seemed to be as non-plussed as I was. I finally figured out that when he said, "This is how my grandmother would make it, he meant just that. Apparently, she made rather plain tacos with very little embellishment beyond the green chile sauce." I get it-simple foods. Yet, I was expecting something a little more complex. The next restaurant was about average and the last restaurant offered . . . a hamburger topped with a chopped green chili & fries! Seriously? I see that Jose gets mostly 5-star reviews, and I am bewildered by this. After the tour, we found restaurants that served local foods like delicious pozoles and green chile stews. In Summary: If you are NOT serious about exploring great tasting Santa Fe foods, and if you secretly wanted a hamburger instead, this is the tour for you.

Great way to experience downtown Santa Fe. Jose was very engaging and knowledgeable. I would recommend taking this tour at the start of your trip so that you have time to go back and explore more on your own. This was a great way to get introduced to the great food and culture.
