Enjoy this fascinating 90 minute group tour that introduces you to all of the secrets of the Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral. Enter off limits areas like the two walled cemeteries and an exclusive experience in the CATACOMBS beneath the Old Cathedral. For over 200 years, the CATACOMBS of the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral has served as the final resting place for the departed. This unique and historic place has been a silent witness to the many struggles and accomplishments of prominent New York Catholics. It is where bishops rest beside noteworthy New Yorkers who have played defining roles in Catholic, New York and American history.

5.00This is an incredible view of the history and an up close and personal look at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Sofia was amazing, her joy, energy and knowledge made the tour alive and so real! As a Catholic and New Yorker I was extremely impressed and learned so much!

5.00This candlelight experience was l lovely! We started off in the graveyard - only available with a tour and I never knew was there in years of living in NYC - then traveled into the church and down to the catacombs. I learned quite a bit about the history of NYC and its relation to the church/Catholicism.

5.00Visiting the New York Catacombs by Candlelight was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The tour takes you through hidden corners of the city’s history, with dim candlelight adding a mysterious and atmospheric touch. It feels both eerie and fascinating at the same time. The guides were knowledgeable, engaging, and shared plenty of interesting stories about the catacombs and the history behind them. Safety and organization were excellent — despite the dark and narrow passages, everything felt well-managed. It’s a slower-paced tour that allows you to really soak in the atmosphere and take memorable photos. If you enjoy history, adventure, or just something a bit unusual, this is definitely worth adding to your New York itinerary.
