Enter off limits areas like the two walled cemeteries and an exclusive experience in the CATACOMBS beneath the Old Cathedral. For over 200 years, the CATACOMBS of the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral has served as the final resting place for the departed. This unique and historic place has been a silent witness to the many struggles and accomplishments of prominent New York Catholics. It is where bishops rest beside noteworthy New Yorkers who have played defining roles in Catholic, New York and American history.

3.00Our tour guide get a 5 stars. The experience was a let down though. The catacombs aren't the underground stone tunnels like you see in Europe. It's under the cathedral in organized, well maintained hallways of marble squares. By definition, they are catacombs. By the time you pay for and Uber to and from, tip the guide, and pay for the tickets, $230 is most definitely not something to do in New York unless you are in the neighborhood already.
