Full of history of NYC and Catholics arriving in America. Excellent! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and insightful. The catacombs took maybe 1/3 of the time (I guess I was thinking it would be many long, winding passageways, but there were not. I would have liked to spend more time there and read about the people. But still, we highly recommend this tour. It also helped us understand how it relates to St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Ave.

Saw the Beatles by Candlelight at Fareham Live. If you have seen the 1967 film The Producers and the look of stunned silence and disbelief on the faces of the audience as the chorus rang out "Springtime for Hitler" then that is how I felt when the four singers danced their way on to the stage. Before then, the band looked suitably professional with that downbeat, sombre look which I always think indicates"these guys know what they're doing" we are in for a good time, despite them being surrounded by dozens and dozens of battery powered candles, which immediately looked completely out of place and superfluous to the performance. The musicians were good, very good and to be fair, the singers had good voices but with their arrival on stage, it all went wrong. I wasn't expecting nor did I want a Tribute band but I did expect the production to be respectful to the music. The singers looked wrong, dressed wrong, performed wrong. The girl, in her solo of Imagine, twice forgot the lines. Imagine that!! Performers of course should enjoy their performance but these guys seemed to be having so much fun with their moves and their silly interaction, that they appeared to forget what they were supposed to be there for. As you might expect, the audience was mainly comprised of older "mods" and "rockers" of way back when, myself included and although I fortunately do not live in one, it felt like the type of performance a group of singers would put on in a Retirement Home. Butlins RedCoats also comes to mind. At best patronising, at worst slightly insulting. Sorry about all that. Had to get it off my chest as I was so disappointed. Apologies to the singers as well, as I know what you do is tough but really it could have been so much better! David
