In the morning, we start our journey to the past through the Sumail Gap, which divides the Western and Easter Hajar Mountains. After this we head to the old capital of Oman, Nizwa, known for its silver Souq and the big round fort, built during the period of the Yoruba dynasty. After visiting the Souq and the Fort, Then we drive to BirkatAlMouz, a pretty oasis known for its sheer scenic value. Reach from there to the roof of Oman, the Saiq Plateau. A beautiful village which was only accessible by donkeys, for hundred of years. The view the over terraced gardens is very colorful. A variety of fruits like walnuts, pomegranates, apricot and lemon are grown here. There are many interesting walks in Wadi Bani Habib, Shrejaya and Aqur where the weather is cool and dry. Return to Muscat in the evening.

Nizwa Fort Oman
It was built in the 1650s by the second Ya’rubi ; Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'rubi, although its underlying structure goes back to the 12th century. It is Oman's most visited national monument. The fort was the administrative seat of authority for the presiding Imams and Walis in times of peace and conflict. The main bulk of the fort took about 12 years to complete and was built above an underground stream. The fort is a powerful reminder of the town's significance through turbulent periods in Oman's long history.
Nizwa Souq
This souq lies in the vicinity of the walls of the famous Nizwa Fort. Its building embraces both traditional and modern architectural lines. Through its many alleys and divisions, Nizwa Souq has remained for hundreds of years home to a number of local industries, such as daggers, copper, spinning, livestock sale, fish, vegetables and handicrafts

I had a one-day private ride/guide experience to Nizwa and mountains. We left 8am from Muscat and beat the crowds at every step. Muhammed was an excellent guide through the day and the chosen locations were great — in old Nizwa markets and fort as well as in mountain sights. Next time I must take an extra day or two for a full hiking trip.

A fantastic heritage and nature tour, individually tailored to us. Added the Oman across Ages Museum (OAAM) south of Nizwa, a museum highlight on the Arabian peninsula! A big Thank you to Khalid, who provided us with great facts about Oman‘s history culture and entertaining stories on Oman daily life.

This is a long overdue review for our tours. We actually did two - one was a half day around Muscat and the other was Nizwa and Jabel Akhder. Khalid was our guide for the first tour and we enjoyed his care and knowledge of the area so much that we requested him to run our second tour. I cannot say how much we enjoyed these tours. My elderly parents came with us on the half day first tour of the city and we spent time according to our interest and their capabilities. When my husband and I toured Nizwa and Jabel Akhder a couple of days later we were in for a real treat. Khalid took us to some awesome spots that were not necessarily in the plan but that he thought we would enjoy. Oman is such a beautiful country - and we had some very good discussions with Khalid also about the culture, economy, and the people themselves. I highly recommend this tour company and Khalid specifically, if you can book him, for any visit to the Muscat area.

Thank you Suleiman for being our private guide and driving us to Nizwa and Jabel Akhder. The old Capital Nizwa is very interesting, the souque, the fort and city tour ... just a pitty that we requested a late start and that we therefor missed the live stock market. Ohlala, the views in the mountain were impressive and we felt totally safe going up & down the steep hills and the many curves. We really enjoyed your company, all the interesting information you shared and the great dates that you selected. It is a pity that we only met at the end of our trip, but we will contact you when we visit Muscat again.

Most of the time you write beautifully or great in such reviews. Today I use the word breathtaking. But I would like to start with our nice, pleasant, humorous and smart young guide Mousa, who not only showed us the sights professionally, but also shortened the trips between the stations with entertaining conversations about Omani culture and history and life in general. Mousa first made a detour with us to a village with a thermal spring, which is used by the residents through a practical canal network for bathing and irrigation. Next stop was the old capital Nizwa with the historic fortress. Next to the interesting fortress we visited the market. For us, the highlight of this trip was the visit to the terraces of Jabel Akder. Fantastic scenery, historic villages and the impressive terraces.
