Our guide Haithem converted this private tour into a lively, memorable touristic excursion and even more into a cross cultural knowledge exchange, which no guidebook could compete with. Many thanks.

Haythem, my guide, was outstanding (Not sure of the spelling). The tour was more of a conversation than a lecture. He clearly loves his work and sharing his knowledge of the history and culture of Qatar. He even deviated from the stated itinerary to show me an incredible public art installation near the fort. He used a chance encounter with a water truck on the highway to explain how Qatar deals with water, needed for drinking and irrigation. He pointed out lots of interesting sights as we drove from site to site. We ate lunch at a restaurant that had a real local feel - about as far from touristy as you can get. This tour was my second with Haythem and I was very fortunate to have him to show me around Doha on one tour and take my on the North Qatar tour, which is more historical.

We were staying in Doha a few days and decided to go on a half day tour with Qatar International Tours. Our tour guide, Jaylo and driver picked us up from our hotel. Jaylo was very engaging and we learnt so much about the old as well as the new Doha city as well as Qatar. Our first stop was the Al Zubarah Archaeological Site, which became listed as World Heritage in 2013. Our guide showed us to the rooms which explained the history and importance of this fort throughout history . Next stop was exploring the old deserted fishing village on the coast. So glad that are starting to restore the site. We then took a walk along the boardwalk of the Mangrove Nature Reserve on Purple Island. We also took a look at the fish markets to see what types of fish are caught. Jaylo then took us to a fabulous restaurant, Rotana, where we had a lovely lunch of fish and chicken and very tasty rice dish. In our return to Doha, our guide pointed out the main buildings. We were able to ask lots of questions and we learnt lots about this wonderful country.

What more can we say than the previous comments? Having lived for many years in the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, Haithem knows the local culture perfectly. Very professional, fluent in Arabic, English and French (which is rare in Qatar), Haithem knows the history of Qatar perfectly and has forged many ties with its inhabitants. This allows him to adapt the circuits according to the interests of his interlocutors. He does not count his time, and his valuable knowledge that he enjoys sharing has allowed us to better understand Qatari society and traditional life. We highly recommend it.
