Leaving Moroni 26 km away, at Domoimboini, discover a unique encounter between mangroves and striking volcanic rocks. These rock formations, evidence of the region's volcanic activity, create a spectacular landscape, where the roots of the mangroves intertwine with the rough textures of the rocks. This exceptional setting offers a rare opportunity to observe the interaction between marine vegetation and local geology. In the midst of this natural beauty stands a majestic baobab tree, an emblematic symbol of the region. With its imposing branches, it adds a touch of history to this already fascinating environment.
Here you'll discover The Salt Lake, a captivating natural treasure. Its sparkling turquoise waters, surrounded by lush green landscapes and impressive volcanic formations, create a breathtaking picture. Not only is this salt lake an ecosystem rich in endemic flora and fauna, it is also steeped in fascinating legends that add a mystical dimension to its beauty. The shores of the lake offer magnificent panoramas, ideal for photography, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a haven of serenity.

I arranged the tour with the company only the evening before, and despite the late booking the driver-guide arrived on time the next morning. I was also able to adjust the program by requesting a visit to the Kapviridjohe castle ruins (the organizer initially didn’t want to include this stop). As part of the standard North Island itinerary, we visited the solitary baobab in Domoni, the “dragon’s back”, a salt lake, and a nice beach near Mitsamiouli. There was also a lunch break, though we had to wait around 40 minutes together with another group that was also travelling with the same company. The lunch itself was fine — fish, vegetables, potatoes — nothing bad, but nothing remarkable. The entire tour ran from 8:00 to 16:00, which is shorter than the full daylight hours, even considering the lunch delay. The guide was friendly, shared information about the island’s history and local traditions, and answered all my questions. Despite these positive points, I can’t say I’m fully satisfied with the experience. We skipped one of the locations that had been included in the itinerary the organizer sent me beforehand — Miraculous Mosque. The tour wasn’t truly a full-day outing, and we spent only 15–30 minutes at each stop, with a lot of time on the road. It feels like we could have visited more considering the price. It’s also worth mentioning the water: I was given only 1.5 liters for an eight-hour tour on a very hot day, and I honestly don’t understand how they didn’t prepare enough drinking water. And after the tour, no one followed up to check how everything went or whether I was satisfied, which suggests that customer feedback is not a priority for them. Overall, the tour was decent, but several small yet significant issues left me with mixed impressions.

This tour was really an experience. There were really particularly beautiful places shown. Issa Omar was a wonderful guide and an excellent driver for the difficult road conditions. Nice was also the place for lunch on a very clear bay, a simple restaurant but delicious food. The destinations were very varied as visiting a baobab tree from the inside and also climbing to the rocks was very exciting,

The tour for an individual is quite expensive, but there is really a lot on offer. You can drive to beautiful beaches that look really picture-book. The stop at the crater lake also brings spectacular pictures. The restaurant for lunch is well located on the water under a baobab mine, the road conditions in the country are very complicated, but the driver Issa has skillfully managed all complicated situations.

Visited Grande Comore independently and took this Northern Island tour. Highlights were the Dragons back and the beach - both absolutely beautiful. The natural beauty on this tour is better thanthe Southern Island tour, even if part of the road was bumpy, the driver was good. The guide Rahim was friendly and chatty in the first half, then the vibe was a bit off. Adore Comore offered excellent service overall and I used their airport transfer service directly - their responsive logistics communication and punctuality gave me full confidence.

This was a beautiful day out that took in numerous scenic places: huge baobab trees, stunning beaches, a hike around a turquoise lake, a great local lunch, and so on. Highly recommended. Much of the road has been fixed; more to come apparently.

Ask for Issa. Take sunscreen and shoes to do light hiking if you can. Non-rainy/non-cloudy day is excellent for the views

I highly recommend this tour: great value and great experience. You'll enjoy the "African massage" as you travel along the bumpy roads and the conversation with Hakim was fun, filled with laughter and also gave an honest view of the country and where it is in its development. I searched the world for a "lake by the ocean" (Google the song by Maxwell) and I finally found one on this tour! That said, the hike up Dragons Back was the highlight. I always say, "It's not where you go but who you travel with." Hakim was a relatable and someone I'd readily travel with in the future.
