Join an all-inclusive northern lights chase with experienced The Green Adventure Team. You can count on many years of our experience, local knowledge and the finest photography, because if there's an Aurora waiting for us somewhere, we'll find her! We will take you to the areas with the best viewing potential for the night, away from city light pollution, even to Finland if necessary.
Enjoy a campfire with marshmallows and cup of hot chocolate in the wilderness, while our expedition leader will tell you some interesting stories from the north and legends about lady Aurora. Also you will have a chance to try "made in Tromso" soup, tailored for arctic expeditions, which will keep you warm from the inside. You will get also thermal suit to survive in cold temperatures.
After the tour, you'll receive photos taken by our expedition leader, capturing the highlights of your adventure and your portraits with Aurora, but of course, we can also help you with your camera/smartphone settings.

A current valid passport is required on the day of travel as we may travel into Finland
included professional photos with a small watermark.
Be aware that access to proper toilets in Norwegian wilderness is very limited, sometimes even impossible. We highly recommend to use any toilet before a tour, because in many spots we don't have access to toilets during winter time.
Please inform us also about your thermal suit sizes (the same like your winter jacket), so we will make sure that we have proper size ready for you on board.
Tour is not suitable for cruise ship passengers, which are not staying overnight in Tromso. We do not guarantee that we will be back before cruise's departure as our priority is to see the northern lights. Contact us to organize private tour as an alternative
It's good to know that the icy roads around Tromsø are not favorable for individuals with motion sickness. It's better to take appropriate medication in advance
For everyone's comfort we maintain a strict policy against individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

What To Expect
Tromso
We can drive in area of 200km around Tromso to find good spots to observe the northern lights. Sometimes we can drive not so far from the city, but be prepared that sometimes we need to drive even towards Finland. We have experience with local weather and good contact network with other guides that helps us find clear sky - a prerequisite to see the Northern Lights.

Bring some water with you, it's important to be hydrated in cold and dry climate.
We encourage you to wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear. We do not offer boots for out of concern for your foot hygiene.

2.00I had high hopes for this company based on the reviews but it was very lacking. Our tour was full with 15 on 3/19. As soon as we were on the bus he told us to temper our expectations because it was cloudy everywhere and we had very little chance to see any lights. To me that meant they should have just canceled. I had a different activity that morning with another company canceled due to high winds & weather because they knew the experience wouldn’t be good which I respected. I know over the past few weeks even when the weather looked bleak, some were still able to find pockets with aurora, so I get it, but this was not a day like those. I have seen amazing vibrant/strong aurora displays 5 nights in a row in Alaska a year ago which gave me the “bug”. I didn’t have to chase them, just stepped outside my lodge each night and lasted 3-4hrs each time, with some lulls of just dim white whispy aurora scattered throughout, but even then my camera picked up beautiful color and they were very active, just more faint. Our guide I think was Antonio, from Spain. He said nothing on our 90min drive to the spot. And nothing on the way back either. Once at the spot he was busy making fire, getting our soup, giving us marshmallows and providing hot beverages. Which was nice and yes, takes some work and skies were cloudy. And occasionally he walked away to take some test shots if any aurora was around. The only 2 interactions he had with us was 1-asking where we were from & if we had seen aurora. 2-before we left this spot to “hunt” some more, he gave us a quick 3-min talk about aurora. We drove 10min to where there was the ever so faintest anything that looked like black sky nothingness to the naked eye. He took all of our photos. Then drove another 10min to another spot and still wasn’t great. Then we drove 90min back in silence with music playing. I am fully aware aurora can only mildly be predicted and weather is volatile on the coast. However given the lack of hope from the outset (since they didn’t want to cancel but should have) he could have at least shared on the drive more detailed info about auroras, folklore, as well as local culture in Norway and a bit about the areas we were driving past on the way since was twilight and we could still see the landscape. I already know how auroras happen from my Alaska trip and other research I’ve done, but many people in this group had never seen them and didn’t know much about it. Maybe other guides with this company are better but overall I don’t recommend. It felt like a money grab.

5.00While it was unfortunate that we didn’t see the lights on our tour, it didn’t stop the guides from trying to get us the views. Despite the terrible weather, we tried multiple locations, the guide constantly checked the weather apps and with his colleagues, and traveled up to Finland looking for a gap in the clouds.

5.00From pickup at the cruise ship until our return, JJ our guide, was amazing. His knowledge about the lights was incredible and he knew just the right spot for us to see them. He was constantly working; driving, teaching, making fire, cooking, and photographing. Every moment was wonderful and they should get six stars!

5.00The tour was amazing as we saw the Northern Lights appear several times, we were very lucky. Jay Jay, hosted well and looked after us. We had a campfire to keep us warm, hot soup was provided for dinner followed by a hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. Jay Jay kept us informed and updated on weather and our location. Great tour highly recommend.

5.00I had the most incredible experience with this tour group. I had Dawid as my driver and Antonio as the tour guide and they were both exceptional. After arriving at the meeting point I saw another tour guide let their tour down by telling them that there was no chance of seeing the aurora due to the weather conditions so I was beginning to worry. Then Antonio showed up, briefed our group on what was going to happen and assured us that we would drive as far as we needed to as their predictions were looking good. Dawid drove us all the way into Finland and took us to a remote road away from the main road where the sky just lit up for us. Everyone in the group managed to get their own pictures whilst Antonio took the professional ones. As we were setting up the campfire, he continued to check the aurora and got some more pictures of us when he found a different type had appeared. The campfire section was cozy and the reindeer stew, toasted marshmallows, and hot chocolate was a great addition to the night. Even on our way back to Tromsø, Antonio continued to keep an eye on the sky in case there was anymore vivid shows for us whilst Dawid drove us safely through some pretty hefty snow storms. It was a long night but 100% worth it for the experience. It really was an aurora chase and I would like to thank Antonio and Dawid for making it such an amazing and safe experience.

5.00I cannot speak highly enough about our experience with this Juliane and Marteen! Marteen is a fabulous driver & Juliane went above and beyond to make sure we saw had the best chance of seeing the lights. They did not appear the first two hours and he was able to project that they would appear by midnight and they most definitely did with a surreal show. Juliane is very passionate about the lights and has an abundance of knowledge and experience with them. I would most definitely travel again with these two to get another glimpse. We also had the nice campfire and he went above and beyond to get amazing pictures of us. His photography skills are by far the best as northern lights can be tricky to get. Thank you so much Juliane and Marteen for this once in a lifetime experience!

5.00It was a really nice tour deep into the night. We saw great Northern Lights after we drove about 2.5 hours in a bus with 15 guests towards Sweden/Finland. Fantastic photos have also been taken. We got to know each other a little in the group and our guide explained and told us a lot about the Northern Lights. There was bag soup and marshmallows around the campfire. Would do the tour again anytime.

5.00Amazing guide Julien and driver Elliott. We had reindeer soup and toasted marshmallows around a campfire on a beach and saw some beautiful lights. Julien was very knowledgeable and took some amazing photos. I would highly recommend this company and tour.
