We pre booked our tickets from Scotland. When we arrrived for our tour 1st April all our tickets had separate times and dates on them and would not work. Contacted provider and they were not helpful at all. HOWEVER. We were a group of 5 with VIP tickets for a Monday morning visit. Earlier that morning, we received a message saying due to rainy conditions, viewing at the ESB would be limited and we were welcome to reschedule for free. We did so for the next afternoon at 2:30. When we arrived, we showed our tickets at the door and were told to follow the red carpet since we had VIP tickets. This allowed us to skip ALL lines. The VIP and regular lines snaked around through several floors. Periodically, we would have to scan our tickets so the gate would open for us. Others tried to follow but their tickets didn’t allow it. We were about to go directly to the front of the line at the pictures and all elevators. We have no idea how long the regular line was. The first elevator went up to the 80th floor. Again, we followed the red carpet and were allowed into our own elevator car to the 86th floor. The day was bright and clear and the views were amazing!!! We looked around the 86th floor and took pictures both inside and out. Outside was very windy and cold. Once finished, we headed to the elevator to the 102nd floor which was located in a small round room in the spire. You had to have special tickets for this. The 102nd floor was a small round room full of ceiling to floor windows. We had exceptional views all over Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs and states. Since it was sunny, it got pretty warm up there. You are allowed to stay as long as you like. When we were finished, we took the elevator back down to the 86th, 80th, then ground floors, stopping in the giftshop on the way out. All 5 of us had an amazing time visiting the iconic building.

It’s the iconic thing to do and the displays and experience are great but if you only do one observation deck, do Top of the Rock which in my opinion has better views than this one.

Excellent sunset views of NYC. Still the best and original. Much prefer it to The Edge and Summit as it’s extremely nostalgic.
