The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

We had an outstanding experience exploring Taroko Gorge, made all the more memorable by our guide, Jimmy. From start to finish, the tour was seamless, well-paced, and thoughtfully organized. Jimmy was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the area. He brought the gorge to life with insights into its history, geology, and cultural significance, while also making sure we never felt rushed. He struck a perfect balance between guiding and giving us time to take everything in at our own pace. The itinerary covered all the highlights, but also included a few quieter spots that we likely wouldn’t have found on our own. Jimmy’s attention to detail and genuine care for our experience really stood out—whether it was adjusting timing to avoid crowds or making sure we had the best viewpoints for photos. Overall, this was a truly memorable day in one of Taiwan’s most spectacular landscapes. We would highly recommend this tour company—and especially Jimmy—to anyone looking for a well-run, insightful, and enjoyable Taroko Gorge experience.

What a phenomenal experience for a day trip from Taipei to Hualien / Taroko Gorge. Our guide Alex made our day perfect and extra special. Our trip was a bit unconventional in that my partner and I got engaged on this tour! I messaged the tour agency when booking and our guide Alex picked the perfect secluded spot on the beach for me to drop to my knee and propose. He took a ton of photos / video, and our friends were actually impressed with the quality of them! We started at the beach / beachside cliff locations, then had a quick lunch at the local cafe (bring some cash for this and get the lemon juice) before heading into Taroko gorge national park. We spent the day driving between the sites, occasionally parking and taking some short hikes through the woods, temples, and bridges. We ended the day by driving to another hiking trail outside the park, where we hiked to a waterfall and saw some monkeys. Alex ended the day by dropping us off at the night market, which I also recommend! The trip is totally possible from Taipei in a day. We got a 7:52 AM train from Songshen and arrived at about 10 AM in Hualien where Alex picked us up. We returned to Taipei with an 8:45 PM train and got back to our hotel at about 11:30 PM.

We had an amazing and unforgettable time with our tour guide Jack, a local who has been living in Hualien for around 30 years! He brought us to scenic spots and shared his vast knowledge with us which ranged widely from geographical facts about the Taroko Gorge, to the rich history of the country. Jack was definitely a joy to have as our guide for a place we have been dreaming to visit - he was very professional, meticulous about his service, and always made sure that we were comfortable. He even offered to take photos for us and they turned out really nice! The length of time at each stop was also just right and we especially liked that more time was allocated to Taroko Gorge. Needless to say, we are extremely glad we booked this tour - it is definitely money well-spent and we couldn't have explored Taroko Gorge at such depth on our own. Thank you Jack and team!

I knew Taroko would be beautiful based on the photos I saw online, but the experience was even better than I thought. It was absolutely breathtaking. Jimmy was the most thoughtful tour guide and went above and beyond to make the excursion special. The extra things he bought me that was not a part of the tour like handmade mochi, the most delicious lemon juice, and the tastiest bombing egg pancake was very sweet. He gave me a true taste of what Taiwan has to offer. This event was worth every penny. Thanks Jimmy!

Jack was an outstanding your guide through Hualien and Taroko! His knowledge of the local history and geography is surely unsurpassed! He was kind and considerate and tailored the trip to our needs. Had we not booked this tour our understanding of the area would be limited. Could not recommend a more informative tour in spectacular scenery!

Sam was an excellent guide. I only had 1 day in Hualien and Sam showed me everything. I felt more like a friend was showing me his hometown rather than a typical "guided" experience. Sam had a nice balance of knowledge and personal stories that help show the context of everything I was seeing. I will definitely return to Hualien again and spend more time in that beautiful city:)

It was a fun tour with a Japanese guide. The private day tour from Hualien is a very attractive day tour to sightseeing spots around Hualien City such as Tailukaku National Park, Shimizu Cliff, and Qixingtan. The only thing that worries me was that the guide's explanation was only in Chinese and English. However, as soon as we heard the polite Japanese of Mr. Yang Chao-tung (SAM), a guide who picked us up at the hotel on the day, we were able to enjoy the tour comfortably. It is natural that Mr. Yang, who was born and raised in Hualien, knows about Tarokaku National Park and other tourist spots. It rained in the morning of Hualien, but as he said, "Even if it rains in Tarokaku National Park, it is fine." It was clear weather in Tarokaku Park. He stopped at each point to explain nature, history, culture, etc. In addition to tourist spots, for example, the state of Tarokaku Valley and indigenous people during the Japanese rule, and he was able to understand a little about Taiwan that is difficult to know unless he is a private guide. After the tour, we told them that we wanted to take an earlier train than planned, and they asked us to change the ticket at Hualien station. We will use it again if we have the opportunity. Thank you for the fun tour. On the Internet, the tour guide is in Chinese and English, but they said that if you request Japanese, they will respond. We strongly recommend this tour and this company that can respond in Japanese.

We had a fantastic day tour to Taroko Gorge. Jimmy was an absolute genuine man who looked after us completely from the moment he met us at the hotel. His knowledge was incredible yet he was understanding of our special needs daughter who didn’t want to leave his van at different times during the day. We are so glad as a family that we chose this tour and feel incredibly blessed to have this special place and day locked into our memory. Jimmy stopped and bought us the most delicious pineapple we are back in Australia and wish we could eat such delicious pineapple again. He also stopped at a beautiful coffee shop for us. He made sure we were always comfortable his hospitality was 100 percent. I will definitely book again with Taiwan tours.
