The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

5.00We started our tour with Vincent picking us up promptly from our hotel. He provided us water, maps, and even disposable rain ponchos should we need them. Vincent was very knowledgeable about the area being a native of Hualien. His English was excellent and he had a passion for educating us about the history of Taroko and the indigenous tribes of the area. He was very considerate of wanting to make our experience tailored to our preferences and often gave us several options to choose from regarding our itinerary. I would highly recommend Vincent to anyone visiting this area.

5.00This tour was the best decision of this trip to Taiwan. With the closures in Taroko, I thought it would be safer to take a tour, but I didn’t know how special it would be to take THIS tour. We took the tour with Jimmy - he was incredible! He was punctual in picking us up, adjusted the tour to our interests, and very importantly, he kept to a very tight schedule which allowed us to make it through the road closures (which there were many) some of which are only open between 5 and 10 minutes! We simply would not have been able to see as much as we did without Jimmy’s knowledge of the route. He took us to the visitor center, told us of the local plants, fruits, animals and industries like the cement and whisky distilleries - he knew a lot of local history, topography and geology which were all so interesting! He took us to a restaurant from the Taroko people and it was so delicious, and the staff was so friendly! We also love an adventure and Jimmy caught on to this immediately and took us to open places where we could hike a bit. This was our favorite day in Taiwan! Thanks to the team and especially to Jimmy!

5.00My driver--Sam--was excellent. Perfect English and very knowledgeable. Appreciated the fact that he accompanied me on all the stops--some of the other guides I saw remained in the parking lot and waited for their visitors. He gave me great recommendations for things to do and places to eat after our Taroko Gorge visit. Would definitely request him again were I to do another tour.

5.00Despite limited access following the 2024 earthquake, we were still able to experience the very best of Taroko in a short amount of time. As a local, our guide Vincent brought a deep knowledge of Hualien and Taiwan, enriching the entire trip. His fluency in English was especially helpful for my non-Mandarin-speaking partner. We truly enjoyed spending the day with him exploring Taroko and Hualien.

5.00This was one of the best tour experiences we’ve ever had. If you’re visiting Hualien, please choose this company—you won’t regret it! What makes them truly special is that their guides are from Hualien itself, and that local connection makes a huge difference. Our guide, Sam, went above and beyond to make sure our experience was both informative and enjoyable. He accompanied us throughout the entire day—from hikes to meals—and was incredibly flexible, even adjusting plans when we needed to grab coffee or stop at an ATM. At one point, he anticipated traffic delays to a scenic viewpoint and proactively rerouted us to a different spot he knew well. It ended up being a highlight of the trip—something we never would have discovered on our own! He also gave fantastic food recommendations and shared meaningful historical and cultural context. My grandparents grew up in Hualien, and he made a special effort to include deeper insights about the region and the Taroko people, which made the experience feel especially personal. Sam mentioned that tourism in Hualien has declined since the earthquake, so I really encourage anyone considering a visit to support this company. You’ll not only have an incredible experience, but also contribute to a community that truly deserves it.

5.00This was a great tour. Alex knows so much about the areas we visited and Takoro Gorge is stunning. He also took me to a local spot for lunch that had the best coffin bread! This was my only day in Hualien and it was the perfect way to see it all.

5.00My elderly parents (~80 years old) and I had a great time on this private tour. At first, I was a little bit nervous about how much we’d be able to see with the post-earthquake recovery efforts not yet being complete, with my parents’ inability to do strenuous hikes, and the bit of rain we were going to get all weekend. Our guide Sam was wonderful. He flipped between 3 languages to keep us all engaged while doing a great job navigating the challenging, narrow/winding mountain roads. He also helped my parents with food selection, hiking, and more. You could really feel Sam’s hometown pride come through (he’s a native of Hualien). I would definitely recommend this again. In the future, though, I would try and enjoy Hualien and surround areas for 3-4 days instead of the rushed overnight that we did.
