More than just a drive, this journey offers an immersive and interactive way to truly experience Taroko Gorge and Hualien
The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

We absolutely loved exploring Taroko Gorge and the surrounding area with our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide Alex. Spending time with locals really makes the trip memorable, and we loved peppering Alex with questions about life in Taiwan. The scenery was gorgeous and he even took us to a vegetarian lunch buffet -- such a treat! Thanks for a memorable day trip!

We had an excellent day with Vincent! We experienced *stunning* scenery, learnt about Hualien and Taroko sites and history, and deepened our cultural understanding of the local aboriginal tribes (including some amazing local food for lunch!). Vincent is a highly knowledgeable, flexible, professional guide. A special experience and true highlight of our trip!

The tour was excellent! Sam, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the history of Taroko National Park and Hualien, the natural environment, and the indigenous people. We saw amazing views and wildlife, visited a Buddhist monastery deep inside the park, ate at a Truku indigenous restaurant that was fantastic, hiked to a waterfall, and learned so much about the area. Even though the Taroko had an earthquake in 2024 that has limited access to hikes in the park, we highly recommend this tour and encourage others to visit as the community rebuilds. Sam, our guide, went out of his way to make the tour special. He even found a community market with live music as we were on the tour and took us there to finish out the day even though it was not on our itinerary. If you are looking for a tour to Taroko, this is the one to choose.

Absolutely fantastic, Toroko Gorge is easily the most beautiful place I have ever been. It’s a once in a lifetime view! Many of the trails are still closed because of the 2024 earthquake, but it is still absolutely worth coming! We had a great tour with Sam who took us to the most beautiful locations at Toroko and around Hualien. Would recommend to anyone!

My brother and I had a wonderful time exploring the beauty of Taroko Gorge and Hualien’s natural scenery with our guide Vincent! The choice to opt for an Indigenous lunch was a highlight of our day, going to experience the restaurant and the process of opening the bamboo rice. If you’re planning to be in Taiwan, this tour is a must!

Alex is a Hualien local who has been giving tours for over a decade. The tour covered all the highlights of the area and was perfectly timed with the special entrance times for the gorge. This private tour was 100% the best way to see it. His English is great and was a great driver. We had a mix of English and Chinese speaking people in our family and he accommodated both with ease. He’s also a super safe driver. The van was very comfortable and he had a calm playlist.
