The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

5.00Our family went on the Taroko Gorge/Hualien highlights tour. They were so helpful beforehand as we made arrangements to accommodate our large group of ten adults. They answered all of my questions and booked our tour via email. We wanted to visit Taroko Gorge but weren’t sure what would be open and how to navigate the entry and exit times easily in a foreign language on our own. We took two cars to tour. Both of our guides spoke English and were knowledgeable about Taiwan and the area and its culture. We felt like we had the best experience in the gorge! Our guides were aware of the time constraints of the gorge and kept us on schedule so we didn’t have to wait. They knew where to stop to give us the most beautiful views of the gorge and gave us plenty of time to see the open areas. They showed us a nice spot for a delicious lunch, and we even got ice cream afterwards. The Hualien stops were also beautiful. Including some places we never would have known about on our own. A very cool rock art beach. A hike to a 40 foot waterfall, an old church, and of course Qingshui Cliffs. The tour was eight hours, with a lot of driving. Our guides were Alex and Lion, they were lots of fun with lots of personality which made the day very fun! Thanks for a fun day showing us your country!!

5.00Great tour and it's a highlight of our trip. The Taroko Gorge is a must see and it was fascinating to hear about the history and how natural events have impacted the ability to see it. So beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice. Sam took us to a variety of other places that balanced out the day. Each was unique and worth the time. Overall a great day that I encourage others to experience.

5.00The private tour to Taroko Gorge with Alex was absolutely a wonderful experience. Alex was professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and very comical. We learned about the history of Hualien and Taroko, the formation of marble over time shaped by typhoons and wind, and last but not least, Alex’s personal experiences growing up in Hualien. To me, hearing how someone is deeply connected to a place through time and family stories is truly inspiring. There was also a lot of hiking between sightseeing stops, so make sure to wear proper shoes.

5.00We had an absolute blast! Our driver picked us up at 8:30, which gave us enough time to do the Taroko Gorge without crowds and visit the other sites! He was very knowledgeable about the nearby area and was able to identify the military jets that flew overhead just by sound.

5.00My guide Sam was very kind and very knowledgeable about the geography, culture and history of Hualien. It was a short day, but we had a good time together. Like the Noto Peninsula, Hualien is still recovering from the disaster. I hope the people of Japan will feel free to support us.

5.00Regardless of what you have hears, the Taroko Gorge is open for visitors with careful planning and a good tour guide like Vincent. The earlier start, the better the day. Even on a rainy and cloudy day, the park is worth a visit. If you begin by 7, you can still catch an evening train back to Taipei if you take your luggage wth you.

5.00Sam is the ideal guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and shares a lot of information about the history and details of every stop on this tour. He also answers any Taiwan related questions you may have. He is patient, attentive to needs of the traveler, and engaging. He can be quiet at times when not sharing information but that allows you to enjoy the scenery. I recommend!

5.00We initially tried to get a public bus to Taroko Gorge however the system is quite unreliable. We instead booked a private tour and couldn't be happier. Jimmy was outstanding, he catered the trip for us as we enjoyed taking photos and took us to some very scenic spots not many other people were stopped at and allowed us extra time. Also the hand made mochi and lemonade was the icing on top. We were so thankful for Jimmy having great local knowledge and helping us with this great experience.
