The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

Jack was an outstanding your guide through Hualien and Taroko! His knowledge of the local history and geography is surely unsurpassed! He was kind and considerate and tailored the trip to our needs. Had we not booked this tour our understanding of the area would be limited. Could not recommend a more informative tour in spectacular scenery!

Sam was an excellent guide. I only had 1 day in Hualien and Sam showed me everything. I felt more like a friend was showing me his hometown rather than a typical "guided" experience. Sam had a nice balance of knowledge and personal stories that help show the context of everything I was seeing. I will definitely return to Hualien again and spend more time in that beautiful city:)

It was a fun tour with a Japanese guide. The private day tour from Hualien is a very attractive day tour to sightseeing spots around Hualien City such as Tailukaku National Park, Shimizu Cliff, and Qixingtan. The only thing that worries me was that the guide's explanation was only in Chinese and English. However, as soon as we heard the polite Japanese of Mr. Yang Chao-tung (SAM), a guide who picked us up at the hotel on the day, we were able to enjoy the tour comfortably. It is natural that Mr. Yang, who was born and raised in Hualien, knows about Tarokaku National Park and other tourist spots. It rained in the morning of Hualien, but as he said, "Even if it rains in Tarokaku National Park, it is fine." It was clear weather in Tarokaku Park. He stopped at each point to explain nature, history, culture, etc. In addition to tourist spots, for example, the state of Tarokaku Valley and indigenous people during the Japanese rule, and he was able to understand a little about Taiwan that is difficult to know unless he is a private guide. After the tour, we told them that we wanted to take an earlier train than planned, and they asked us to change the ticket at Hualien station. We will use it again if we have the opportunity. Thank you for the fun tour. On the Internet, the tour guide is in Chinese and English, but they said that if you request Japanese, they will respond. We strongly recommend this tour and this company that can respond in Japanese.

We had a fantastic day tour to Taroko Gorge. Jimmy was an absolute genuine man who looked after us completely from the moment he met us at the hotel. His knowledge was incredible yet he was understanding of our special needs daughter who didn’t want to leave his van at different times during the day. We are so glad as a family that we chose this tour and feel incredibly blessed to have this special place and day locked into our memory. Jimmy stopped and bought us the most delicious pineapple we are back in Australia and wish we could eat such delicious pineapple again. He also stopped at a beautiful coffee shop for us. He made sure we were always comfortable his hospitality was 100 percent. I will definitely book again with Taiwan tours.

We had the most incredible tour with Jimmy, truly one of the highlights of our trip to Taiwan. From start to finish, Jimmy made the experience unforgettable for our group of three. He showed us all the must-see sights, shared so much knowledge, and went above and beyond by introducing us to local foods we never would have tried on our own. The lunch he took us to was absolutely fantastic. Jimmy’s energy, thoughtfulness, and passion made the whole day feel special. Couldn’t recommend this tour—and especially Jimmy—more!

We had a memorable tour of Hualien and Taroko Gorge. Our tour guide Vincent was knowledgeable and passionate about Taroko Gorge. He grew up in Hualien and spent his life in Taroko Gorge as his father worked as an environmental engineer there. He showed us all the secret beauty spots. Taroko Gorge is absolutely stunning. We had a fantastic day - thank you so much!

We had problems arranging a Klook tour of the Takoro gorge. First we booked a 1/2 day tour but the tour operator contacted me and said I needed to change my tour to a “full-day” to see the main sites I listed. I didn’t agree, especially since all hiking trails are closed due to renovations from Apr2024 earthquake. I canceled and by the time I remembered to rebook the tour the night before they were all sold out, even the expensive ones. I was kinda bummed but as we traveled up on the train I then saw that motor scooters are rented right by the Hualien train station. If you book on Klook same day you have to wait until noon. We were arriving at 9:35am. So instead I googled the address of the vendor and walked 1 minute to Dingfung rentals. I was able to rent a nice Honda Cygnus Gryphus for $25 /day out the door, and they accepted my US International Drivers Liscense and US motorcycle drivers Liscense. What a great decision this was! Not only was tons cheaper than the expensive tours ($152), but it was so much FUN and way better unobstructed views than you could ever get in a car! We also could make stops easier to for pictures as there’s always parking for a bike. And we didn’t have to pay for a taxi to/from our hotel! My husband and I ride double on motorcycles often. It was a Win-Win all the way around! I highly recommend renting a scooter if you are able instead of doing the car tour. Honestly with all the trails closed, it doesn’t take more than a couple hours to see the gorge and it’s so much better on a scooter.
