Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

A great day out with Jimmy who has a wealth of knowledge spanning geology, flora and fauna of the region. Jimmy was very flexible with our itinerary to include some gourmet food stops and stayed a little bit later so we could enjoy the local music festival. This private tour group is well worth it as Jimmy will take you to all the best and secret spots and take many photos for you and share his knowledge with great hospitality.

Sam was our guide and he was comfortable and knowledgeable in his guidance from beginning to end. He made sure we were well taken care of, provided us plenty of opportunity for pictures and took us to several nice spots after Taroko for food/more sightseeing. We wish you the best Sam and thanks for what you do in helping travelers learn and see the beauty of the country!

Sam took me all around Taroko, into the parts that were open, the history, around Hualien to get a doughnut, stinky tofu, green onion pancake, the whole works! He also was extremely friendly, helpful and his English was fantastic! He really catered to what I was into, and noticed I liked taking photos so he added stops around that vibe, it was really sweet!

We had a great visit to the Taroko Gorge with Jimmy. He made sure we could explore and see as much of the park as possible. Jimmy shared interesting history and his own memories from his visits to the park. He took us to a tasty lunch and even picked up some local fruit for us to try! 10/10!

There is still a lot to see in Hualien and at Taroko, and this was a good way to see a lot in a short time. The tour is not cheap, but it was a long day, and I am much more knowledgeable about Taiwan, Hualien and Taroko for it. Plus, it just makes it so easy. That is not to mention the stunning scenery and beautiful nature. It is unfortunate that there is still work to go to repair the access to several of Taroko’s attractions after the earthquake and typhoon, and the local economy is suffering from it. However, it is still a stunning part of the world, and well worth visiting. If you were not planning on hiking, you will not miss too much, and the tour is a good way to see it. I am also privately glad I came now, while there are few tourists around - most of the places we went to it was just Sam and I. Sam was an excellent guide (and at times translator). A genuinely knowledgeable local, and made a clear effort to share as much as he could. A few times I could see him counting to make sure he had remembered everything. It was clear he had not just learned things by rote too - there were no questions he could not answer!

Main part of the trip is a tour to Tarako National Park where there are some stunning views and deep gorges which cut through steep white marble hills. Also enjoyed stops at dramatic, windswept beach (too dangerous to swim), and interesting large scale temple, some local street food, and a reconstructed Japanese Colonel’s house Our guide Alex was cheerful, responsive to our needs - we substituted the temple trip for a hike - and obviously very experienced
