Great overview. Maria was excellent as a guide. Gives a great historical perspective to Kyoto's past and current culture, especially the unique relationship of shinto and Buddhism in Japanese culture. To western eyes, shinto seems full of superstition and need to pay up for good luck, but makes me wonder where do we westerners throw away our money? It's a great way to get another perspective on ourselves. Buddhism, on the other hand seems very rational and sophisticated, especially Buddhist philosophy, psychology and spirituality. How fascinating that these two very different life schools can coexist so well in Japan! For me it is another "koan" of life, a mystery that needs no solution.

We had a very pleasant time with our super friendly small group. Our tour guide, Kazu, was friendly, humble and very attentive to guests' request. Also a great photographer, taking nice panoramic photos in the Bamboo forest. For those who want to see the highlights of Kyoto in one day, I truly recommend this tour.

The tour was very rushed with little explanation from our tour guide. Our tour guide was very nice (nothing against him personally) but the itinerary felt rushed. I also didn’t realize if you booked in advance but paid later that it would result in the exclusion of the entrance fees to the temples.

Lots of distance walking, extremely crowded but the sites are definitely worth seeing. Guide (Jewell-san) and driver were great, friendly and informative.

Our English speaking guide Kazu was fantastic in every way. The full day trip to Kyoto all though very crowded was very beautiful. Cherry Blossoms everywhere.
