Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train, Operation Mincemeat is the fast-paced, hilarious and unbelievable true story of the twisted secret mission that won us World War II. This is a brilliant musical. We had so much fun, one of, if not the best musical we’ve seen recently. An absolutely must see!

Operation Mincemeat was recently imported from London's Westend and initially received mixed reviews until it was tweaked for the American audience. The play is based on a true sequence of events and revolves around supersecret plans for the allies to invade Europe from North Africa bridging through Sicily to the Italian mainland on the toe of the boot South of Naples. The Golden Theater has been transformed into an office located in a bunker below the streets of London where plans are afoot to mask the allies true plans by passing fake information to the Nazis by dropping a recently passed body into the sea off the coast of Spain. The dead body was carry plans pointing to the attack being aimed at Sardinia, located off of Italy halfway up the boot. While the plan was ingenious, there were many problems that could act as a foil relative to bringing it off. There was also a background love story between a gentleman officer and a member of the secretary corps. The stage set was minable and there were only five actors in the play. However, they were able to bring this complicated episode off by playing multiple roles through the use of quick costume changes and hidden passes of props to keep the story moving. This was clever, original, and inventive. What was even more interesting was that three of the cast were women and two male; yet the females were able to bring off male roles with aplomb. Operation Mincemeat is a musical with a leitmotif and was thoroughly enjoyable. I personally didn't mind some of the British "English" references. Also, tweaking changed such terms as "high tea" for a reference to "cocktail hour." My wife, Arlee, really liked it and the evening was fun-filled.

Outstanding! Slick, entertaining, and 100% professional. Good to see British humour landing so well on Broadway. Very funny, and cleverly written. Loved it. Highly recommended.

True British war story of deception with recent excellent film release made into comedy musical. How would that work? Brits and Americans laughed throughout and standing ovations at the end. People all chatting about how funny it was on way out of theatre. Great night out.
