The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.
This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!
Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.
Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

What To Expect
Guests will participate in a 90-minute, fully-guided tour of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve and the famous Seven Sea Caves. Our tour guides will lead you through the reserve and give you insider knowledge of the area, including local history, marine life, and conservation efforts. All guests must arrive 30 minutes prior for check-in. Our staff will get each guest ready inside our shop. Once outfitted properly, guests will walk down to the beach, in which our staff will provide an overview of what they will be doing along with best practices / tutorial and a safety briefing for the experience. This activity is suitable for ages 5 and up and does not require any prior experience. 5.00Excellent excursion! Guides were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, funny and very helpful. Excursion was adventurous, beautiful and worth doing. Prepare to get wet and work out. Thrilled we did it before we are too old to do it. The guides helped us get into the cave on kayaks and ride the waves in back to shore.

5.00Robbie & Danielle were AMAZING true asset to EDCA. We paid extra $15 per wet suit, which was needed imo. We also paid $6 for lockers as if you love it leave it in store verse loose to ocean. Plus dry items are a plus upon returning. Everything I was wearing was soaked ! Be Prepared to get wet & bring extra dry outfit. Waist deep - Shore launch of kayak after 3 block walk from store front. Parking was on the street and allow extra time to find parking greater than 90 minutes. Totally Amazing : Seal plus Sea Lion and kayak inside Cave. Overall memorable excursions with Robbie & Danielle.

5.00BEST time kayaking with Kacie and Gabe. Educated us on La Jolla history, local sea life and the caves. Gabe even got in water to guide our kayak into cave. Easy to steer kayak with good paddles. (Saw other companies with crummy paddles.) Please recommend REEF SAFE sunscreen during tour - you have a lot of influence in your position. Thank you for the experience! Loved being ON the water. Let’s protect our ocean!

5.00This was a great tour. Sadly we couldn’t go into the cave as it was too choppy but I do appreciate the guides keeping us safe! We saw lots of sea lions and leopard sharks. Rachel was a friendly and informative about the area! She also was very accommodating to my hearing loss, always making sure I could hear and that my hearing aids were off if we were going to get very wet! Great job!

5.00Went on the tour with my 16 year old daughter, had a blast. Tour ended up being longer because we saw some cool wildlife (dolphins & a young sea lion that was super interested in checking us out), and they didn’t rush us along. Our guides Brodie and Savannah were amazing, super nice and helpful and funny. Would definitely recommend.
