Pozzo Della Cava - Complesso Archeologico

A beautiful walk in the heart of Orvieto will take you to the underground area of “Pozzo della Cava” where you will discover the hidden part of the city. These tunnels have been escavated during more than 23 centuries by the inhabitants of the area. Here your guide will explain you how the rooms were used during the history and you will look down inside the impressive 36 meters deep etruscan well.

I visited Orvieto in the 80’s and so glad I could come back. Our guide was wonderful! The Duomo was even more beautiful than I remembered and listening to the history is just incredible! Some tour guides should be history teachers! It was perfect weather so the walk to the cave was enjoyable. I wish we had more time to spend in such an incredible city!

This tour with Alexandra exceeded our expectations. She greeted us outside the cathedral and gave us a brief history of Orvieto and the Duomo. Inside, we spent a lot of time studying the frescoes of The Last Judgment by Signorelli. We’ve never seen anything like them before, and I don’t think we could’ve appreciated the frescoes as much without Alexandra there to provide background, context, and commentary. The underground cave was also very interesting and worth visiting, as the cave system in Orvieto is extensive and began with the Etruscans. This tour gave us a good understanding of Orvieto, both past and present, and we highly recommend it to others! Thank you, Alexandra for a wonderful experience!

This was a totally private tour. Had a Good time! It is a good amount of walking, but a Great tour! Our guide was great! So informative! If we walked through on our own we would have totally missed 3/4 of what we experienced with the guide! She was very patient and helpful with any of our needs, & didn’t rush us at all!

This tour is a MUST if you are going to Orvieto. It was truly fantastic and I can't recommend it enough. Emma was amazing and made the experience for me and my family and absolute top highlight of our visit to Italy. I couldn't say enough good things, don't visit Orvieto without booking this tour - it was spectacular!

We loved this tour and our tour guide, Emanuela! Orvieto is such a beautiful story with such interesting history. We enjoyed learning about old and recent history from someone who grew up there. Our tour had 6 people, which felt private and was a perfect size to navigate around while being able to hear the guide and feel comfortable asking questions. The Duomo is absolutely fascinating to learn about between how it was built and all the details in the art within it. The caves were neat to learn why they exist and how they were/are used. I highly recommend this tour!
