Discover the majestic Oslo fjord and its islands like a local, hopping on and off ferries to hike the forests, sea cliffs, charming villages and historic sites of two-three islands (season-dependant). With a local guide, explore the fascinating ruins of a nearly 1000 year old abbey, picnic on a hidden beach (Oct-Mar, a small stop with hot drinks will be provided) and walk the flower-covered paths of a village full of brightly painted, traditional wooden cabins. The backdrop for this tour is the stunning water views of Oslo and its surrounding hills, with picture opportunities around every unexpected corner. Don't forget a swim suit and towel in the Summer months as there is time for a swim in the surprisingly warm waters of the Oslo fjord! Time for a picnic lunch is included and participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Good walking shoes or trail shoes are recommended as the hiking is done on dirt paths, gravel and stones.

It is a relaxed walk around 3 different islands and is well timed. The last island has a cafe with good food and refreshments. It started to rain at the end so we didn’t swim but there is a nice swimming area.

This was a fun experience. We were able to tour three islands and learn about some of the history of Norway. The islands were beautiful and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly.

Emma our guide was wonderful! As a local, she was able to share personal stories and lend an insider’s perspective to the tour. 3 islands to cover. There is a cafe at the last one, but it was closed the day we were there. Pack a snack. Plenty of water fill stations and restrooms. The islands would not have been as interesting without back story. Definitely take the tour.
