Discover the majestic Oslo fjord and its islands like a local, hopping on and off ferries to hike the forests, sea cliffs, charming villages and historic sites of two-three islands (season-dependant). With a local guide, explore the fascinating ruins of a nearly 1000 year old abbey, picnic on a hidden beach (Oct-Mar, a small stop with hot drinks will be provided) and walk the flower-covered paths of a village full of brightly painted, traditional wooden cabins. The backdrop for this tour is the stunning water views of Oslo and its surrounding hills, with picture opportunities around every unexpected corner. Don't forget a swim suit and towel in the Summer months as there is time for a swim in the surprisingly warm waters of the Oslo fjord! Time for a picnic lunch is included and participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Good walking shoes or trail shoes are recommended as the hiking is done on dirt paths, gravel and stones.

Great tour with very knowledgeable and friendly guide LILO. I would do it again. The weather was perfect day to be on the water and for an afternoon swim.

The tour consisted of visits on three islands. On each island, there was a short walk and a short talk on the history. The final island included optional beach visit & swim, which we really enjoyed. The guide (Kat) was very friendly and knowledgeable.

It was a fantastic tour! Beautiful sites! We had Neil as our tour guide and he was amazing!! He told us all about the history of Norway relevant to each of the sites we stopped at on the islands. He was incredibly knowledgeable and also very charismatic making learning about the history that much more fun. Sneakers (or shoes with treads) are highly encouraged as there is some uneven terrain and a few very short rocky inclines. There is a lot of walking (but very doable for the average person). Bring your own food/snacks as the café we stopped at is on the last island. If it's nice out, you'll have a chance to go swimming at the last stop. The ferries between islands are no more than a few minutes and very smooth. A great way to get out and learn more about the country. Highly recommend!!
