On a hot summer's day, one of the best things to do in Palm Springs is to take a ride from the dry desert floor with the Aerial Tramway, 5,873 feet up into the cool climate of the San Jacinto Mountains. Come and ascend into a pristine wilderness aboard the world's largest rotating tramcars! Truly one of the greatest experiences in Southern California!

The Tramway is subject to delays and periodic shutdowns due to unforeseen circumstances and is not responsible for ticket refunds or the inability to redeem a voucher
Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

5.00Very nice day trip. Nice trails, beautiful views. Very clean. Tram is well organized. Lunch at Peaks was good. Grilled chicken sandwich is worth your time. Pass on the artichoke dip. 20.00 for a very small portion. Service was very good.

5.00Excellent! I loved the organization from the entrance, the wait, and the service. They have relaxing walks under the coolness of nature. The viewpoint with restrooms, a restaurant for dining... my family was fascinated by the journey!

5.00First of all, the ride up is a special experience with the floor of the tram rotating 360 degrees twice so that everyone onboard gets to see everything on the journey up & down. Great idea. We only had time (about 2 hrs.) so we did the Desert View Trail - 1.5 mi., easy hike that takes you to five wonderful viewpoints (they call them "notches") overlooking the Coachelle Valley. There are many other hikes throughout the Mount San Jacinto State Park that we would have loved to enjoy if we had more time. Also, while at the Mountain Station take the steps up to Grubbs View for more marvelous views. Take a look at all your options and plan your day at the top of the mountain accordingly.

5.00It was a great experience not to be missed. Just be mindful that it's a bit cooler once you get to the top of the summit. Hiking trails were clearly marked.

5.00This was a fantastic adventure to do with kids. The ride rotates on the way up so you get to see views at 360 degrees. Once at the top, the trails are so doable for any age and the video+museum is very informative. We were up there about 1 1/2 then rode the tram down. I was up there with my grandkids who are 4 and 6 and they loved it. I would highly recommend going first thing in the morning for close parking and very little wait to ride the tram.
