On a hot summer's day, one of the best things to do in Palm Springs is to take a ride from the dry desert floor with the Aerial Tramway, 5,873 feet up into the cool climate of the San Jacinto Mountains. Come and ascend into a pristine wilderness aboard the world's largest rotating tramcars! Truly one of the greatest experiences in Southern California!

Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.

Beware of the High elevation it is cooler and due to that elevation also can be harder walking around.

We had the best time, the views were stunning 😍 the cart was fun with the moving bottom so you could see all the areas when in the tram.

Great activity to do in Palm Springs. We took my 91 yr old father on a walker and it was just fine. Views were beautiful.

Had the best time taking my Dad on the Aerial Tramway to Mount San Jacinto in Palm Springs! The ride up and down is worth the price of admission, then you can explore the State Park and enjoy restaurants on site. The cooler weather, the nature and the beauty is unreal! I want to go back and walk the trails when I have more time (we had to leave earlier) but I’m so excited to go back!

Decided to do this before it gets too hot in the desert. Went over Memorial Day weekend and it was 87 in Palm Springs and 57 at the top of the mountain. Brings layers to wear when you get there and remember it will get colder as the sun sets. It’s very busy at the bottom but once you get up and off the tram it’s very quiet as people go their separate ways. Did the Round Valley Loop trail and it was lovely (yes you need a FREE permit that they have at the ranger station). Very peaceful, some traffic but not too much, great views of the other mountain peaks and lots of different environments and rock formations to see. Still recommend doing the Desert View and Discovery Trails as they have amazing views of the towns below and are short and sweet hikes. There’s also a museum, restaurant, cafe and gift shop inside. Will definitely come back and explore more. Oh, the tram floor rotates 360! Learned it’s the only one like it in the western hemisphere. Very cool!

The view is magnificent and very impressive. For those who are prone to vertigo, I do not recommend it. The ascent is very uncomfortable; the cabin shakes a lot at each pole, which tickles our hearts with fear each time. In our experience, people screamed in fear every time. The descent, however, is more peaceful.
