I offer you a delicious culinary escapade in the image and taste of my love for Papeete, the city where I was born. An immersion in my life in Tahiti, the island where I was born and flourished as a Polynesian and citizen of the world. We will start with a typical breakfast, seated around our famous raw fish in coconut milk. Then, it is to the rhythm of all our tastings (minimum 10) that I will guide you through the city, its history and its flavors. I will show you the addresses that mark my daily life: from the famous Papeete market to the little hidden gems that are close to my heart. Throughout this morning together, we will explore and celebrate the vibrant culinary culture of Papeete, the flavors, stories and characters behind everything we will taste together. From local specialties, to snacks from my childhood, to modern street food, Papeete will not leave you hungry!

It’s an excellent way to be oriented spatially to the heart of Papeete and culturally to the rich heritage that the city offers. Orana moved seamlessly between French and English and took us to places that we would not have known about nor would we have known how or what to order. It’s a very good introduction to the food that ordinary Tahitians eat as well as aspects of the culture that a visitor would not otherwise be aware of. And the fact that the tour is limited to just a few people is a huge plus. Highly recommended.

This was literally a perfect day. We did a lot in and around Papeete, and this was the favorite. Orama was so friendly, knowledgeable, and interactive. She seems to know everyone and everything. There we so many cultural insights, every day ins and outs, and little nuances she shared from the secret to making sure you got a coconut brioche or fish beignet, to the best time to avoid the foodie crowds. It was a great day!! We're so grateful we picked this! Thank you Orama!

Hands down the best food tour I’ve ever been on. Orama was the perfect guide and used her extensive knowledge of the town’s eateries to share her passion for the Polynesian culture. I highly recommend booking this tour

Orama was a great guide. She took us to several locally owned family restaurants, walked us through the Municipal Market, shared pictures and history, and was very entertaining. We ate most of our meals for the rest of our stay at the places she introduced us to. She also asked about our shopping interests and pointed out shops and local grocery stores. It was like visiting a good friend on the island.

We discovered the Food Tour concept with this one, and it was an amazing experience. I grew up in Tahiti, but I had booked this food tour to show the city and discover local food to my partner who came to French Polynesia for the first time, and I absolutely do not regret! Even knowing the food, I had a great time and rediscovered the food of my childhood. Orama managed to build a very nice tour, combining greed, culture and local history, which gives a real plus to its food tour, congratulations to you!!

Meeting in Papeete for this food tour was the first thing I did after dropping my luggage off at the resort. As much as I enjoy the finer things, few things re as authentic a contact with modern Tahitian culture than through its food, on its streets and markets, with everyday people. This tour accomplishes even more than that: I got to meet kind, caring and down to earth global friends while eating and learning about French, Polynesian and Chinese influences in the flavors of Tahiti. From coffee, firi firi and poison cru to pai, boulette de riz and tuna on baguette and the most delicious fast food fish burger ever… this tour will please your senses and leave your face smiling and belly full.

This tour was an amazing way to see the city and try different foods. Suggest doing on your first day to learn about the heritage and where to get yummy food for the rest of your trip. The guide was very informative answering questions and speaking in multiple languages fluently between groups.

We have taken many, many good tours and this was the best. There was so much food to taste. It was delicious. We liked the history and cultural explanation behind many of the foods. It was easy to walk around Papeete and take in the sites. Be aware the start location via Viator maps is not correct. Follow the directions emailed to you.

This is a fabulous taste of Tahiti, with a wonderful host taking us to several spots off the beaten track. If you’ve never had a raw fish dish and were too scared to try, give it a go! Truly a standout tour.
