First off, WOW! What an experience! I am a non-swimmer and I was very nervous about snorkeling. I read the reviews from other non-swimmers and decided to give it a try. Everyone put on a wetsuit to protect against jellyfish (there were none) and a floatation waste band. There were 4 of us assigned to our amazing guide, Harry. He belted 2 lifesaver rings together and the 4 of us held onto the rings, our faces in the water and Harry pulled us around the reef. The view was amazing!! We saw coral of many colors, fish of every size and color, starfish in bright blue and green. There was a white tipped shark in the area. No turtles. We snorkeled for about 1 hr and then came in for a delicious lunch and they boated us to another location on the reef. We then were able to snorkel for about another hour. My guide Harry was great, gave us a running commentary on what we were seeing and always checked to make sure we were feeling comfortable. He even dove down to a giant clam, waved his hand over it so we could see it close up! All I can say as a non-swimmer, who is afraid of the water, I had the most amazing time and saw things that I never thought I would or could! HOLY CRAP! I SNORKELED THE GREAT BARRIER REEF!!

Visiting the Great Barrier Reef was a life changing experience! The crew of the ship were a family and treated each one of the guests as family too. Andi, who was our scuba instructor, was amazing! She taught us in a safe and fun way and made the trip a blast. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants some adventure and to see some amazing colors in nature

We are not sure if the Great Barrier Reef is too much hyped or the tour. We were on the boat with an estimated 100! other people. It was very crowded everywhere on the boat but which was more disappointing at the reef too. The second reef was very small and there was no chance to enjoy the view because other snorkelers where constantly bumping into you (because they were just looking at there cameras or couldn’t swim at all) and you constantly got hit in the face by flippers of people cutting your way off. But the thing which left a very bad taste behind was seeing so many people snorkeling over shallow areas of the reef and beating the corals with their flippers. I know that this behavior is not the fault of the crew but as they bring so many people into those reef they should spread more awareness beforehand and have at least one person who supervises the snorkelers not just in terms of drowning. The reef itself was beautiful but not different from the reefs we’ve been to in Egypt. A big compliment to the cook of the boat. The food was very good! We also saw a big turtle and dolphins swimming alongside the boat which was very cool. All in all it was okay but not worth the hype and money.

I 've done a lot of snorkeling, but never in the Great Barrier Reef. This snorkeling was, by far, the bet snorkeling experience I've ever had. The boat ride out was fine with lots of seating in the sun or inside in the shade. The tour guides did a great job fitting everyone with stinger suits and snorkels. Then it was onto the reef. I've never seen colors that vibrant or such a variety of fish. All the different kinds of corral and enormous, brightly colored parrotfish were incredible. Make sure to smile for the photographer who will snap some great pictures of your group. On the return ride the marine biologist gave a great talk with photos about the history of the reef and all the creatures you can see there.
