This is on most Southern Utah bucket lists, you’ll find the local favorite one-two punch of Peek-a-Boo and Spooky Slot Canyons. These magnificent hikes, located in the Dry Fork area of the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument make for a killer loop you can tackle in one afternoon of adventure. Once you’re in, all you have to do is walk through a scenic paradise of red and purple rock, arches, and narrow slot canyons.
This tour is around 5 miles total hiking distance and is considered moderate hiking going up and down hills.
From the trailhead, we will hike through Dry Fork Wash, you’ll hike along the creek wash until you see the mouth of Peek-a-Boo. Once you leave Peek-a-Boo, we will hike to the entrance of Spooky Gulch. Scramble down a mellow rock face to get into the canyon. It soon tightens up, and you’ll be having a good time navigating the confines of this fun canyon.
Being on time is imperative, if you are more than 15 minutes late we will leave without you.

Peekaboo Gulch
The slot canyon is most famous because of the last 100 meters, before the junction with Dry Fork of Coyote Gulch - here the ravine cuts deeper into the sandstone, with a series of interlinked potholes, extravagant swirls and fins of rock, and several arches; these different openings and the many corners and crevices account for the curious name of this canyon. The hiking portion is 5 miles total. 1.5 miles to and from the slot canyons and about .5 miles in each canyon.
Spooky Gulch
Only 10 inches wide at some points, Spooky is appropriately named. It is possible to travel almost halfway through before the first of two climbs, so go ahead and squeeze through as far as you dare.
Private transportation
We will provide some water, but guests should bring their own as well.
You should pack snacks to keep you fueled through this hike.

All three slots were neat to go through. I'm glad we did it with a guide. I don't think I would have been able to climb into Peek a Boo without our guide. Gary was a wonderful guide, and he gave us some good pointers so we stayed safe. I highly recommend booking your experience with Roam. Riding in their 4x4 on the way to and from the canyon was also a lot of fun.

Our family of four had a great time with Neil exploring the canyons. Neil was patient with my kid’s (9 &7) endless questions and gave them confidence to climb, scramble, and scoot through the canyons. The hike is ~5.5 miles and took us 3.5 hours. The ride to the trailhead is less than an hour each way via a 4x4 side by side for a total tour time of 5.5 hours. Thanks for a great time!

Quite an experience! We won't be forgetting the fun and challenging journey through these three slot canyons. We couldn't have done it without the know-how of our guides.

Highly recommend this tour! Our guides were friendly, knowledgeable and patient. While we don’t often sign up for many tours I highly recommend it for this outing. Between the ups, downs and tight spaces in the canyon it was beneficial to have a guide to provide assistance. Definitely worth the side by side ride in so you don’t have to drive your personal vehicle. We have some stunning pics of a truly amazing and one of a kind adventure!!

Neil was great! If we didn’t take the tour with ROAM, we would have never been able to get into Peekaboo Canyon or attempted Spooky Canyon. Thanks Neil and Gary!

My husband and I have been traveling for 3 months and this was the highlight of our trip. The Slot Canyons and hike were all we could have hoped for. Our guide Neil knows the area like the back of his hand. Imparts his knowledge in a conversational manner. We will be back; hopefully repeatedly. Thanks Neil for the epic tour: including the ride.

This was a bucket list experience for me. The slot canyons were beautiful and intriguing. Our guides, Coleman and Jack, were fantastic as they knew the areas well, anticipated problem spots, and expertly guided (and many times boosted, hoisted, lifted those of us who needed it) through the slots. Be prepared for mud and water, as we went a few days after a heavy rain. Overall, a must do if you are ok with moving through tight spaces and can manage some climbing, and just want to see nature at her best.
