During our stopover with the cruise ship, we booked a family excursion that allowed us to discover several exceptional sites: the lagoon, the pink salt lake, the famous Dune 7, as well as a cultural moment with dances and traditional songs. It was an outing rich in discoveries and emotions. Every step of the way has amazed us, both by the beauty of the landscape and by the warm welcome of the inhabitants. An experience we highly recommend!

I will start with the only downside of the day, due to none appearance of 3 other guests, whilst the majority of the guests were at the meeting point as arranged, we were kept waiting over a hour before the bus got off. Once we were off, the tour was excellent visiting the flamingos, pink lake, dune 7. Moon desert, lunch was a snack, of local foods. Very tasty. Drinks were plenty water juice local beer on offer. A tour of the township with a stop for cultural dance and singing, with change to buy local handmade items. An hour in the town finished the day off. Return to the ship in plenty of time. In regards to those with some mobility restrictions, the blue bus is easy to step onto. All in all a great day, Nico and Laurence were great guide and driver. Would definitely use again. The loss of one star due to the hours waiting for your to start.

The tours guys are great, but we were at the meeting point and had to wait whilst the boss tried to round up more customers. First stop was the lagoon where we saw flamingos and pelican but s as ll at a distance. Then it was the pink lake which was really a salt pan drying in the sun along a very bumpy and muddy road. Then the Dune 7, so jammed because of its distance to Walvis Bay. The place is a 125m sand dune behind a closed gate. To be fair the operator did offer to pay to get us entry, but the gaurds in the gate put us off. This was to he a toilet break which was a walk to a nearby cafe / quad biking centre. Back on the bus to head out of town to see the national plant of Namibia , Welwitschia mirabilis, a unique desert plant known for its long lifespan and distinctive appearance. A short break for snacks and a drink. The food was great but not that much so it disappeared pretty quick. Drinks were beers, orange juice, water or coke- not particularly plentiful. Then it was Swakopmund, first driving through an informal shanti town - felt uneasy , then we entered a formal local town this time o learn the clicking speech of the locals at a home conveniently accommodating tourist trinkets and not cheap either. A local dance group provided some local entertainment - they were lllroodgood, but did look for donations, then into swakopmund central and 75 minutes private time, conveniently dropped by the local market full of locals trying to pry some outrageous prices for what I would call mass produced tat. Time for home via a camel tours business - a reminder to tip the camel trainer. We got back the ship in port about 6 hours from the time we left. Tip for the operator: your guide Needs to polish his presentation skills. The speeds we travelled at times were too fast for the conditions of the roads. The advert said drinks would be provided - we were given a drink and mine was warm. Tips for guests. There are no toilet breaks for the first hour or so of the trips. Toward the end of the day it starting getting cold, bring a fleece. The cost of curios at tour stops were expensive compared to shopping in town.

Never saw so many flamingos! Seals were impressive. Dune 7 was fun to climb. Namid Desert was interesting. There was some confusion about our itinerary and schedule. But, our guide Paulus worked it out.

We had a private tour by a very personable guide, Jamba, who expertly drove us over the sand and made several unexpected stops to show us the wonderful sights and culture of Namibia. Very enjoyable experience and reasonable!
