  • A full but fantastic day trip from Melbourne that hits all the high notes. Our guide was one of the best!

It's a long day but a good day. Our tour guide and driver was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and even took requests for music on the bus. He kept the energy level up for what was a long day but well-rounded tour. We had just enough time to take photos at the Brighton Boxes and observe wildlife at Moonlit Sanctuary, and the Penguin Parade was adorable. At the end of the night, our guide even dropped us off at the restaurant where we had ordered dinner (just a few blocks from the designated drop-off point), which we very much appreciated considering we were returning at nearly 10:00 pm at night.

  • Great experience

It is a long day so plan for it. There were plenty of stops for beverages and snacks. We loved the moonlight sanctuary and it was cool to see the penguins come in at night

We took the Penguin Parade & Wildlife Encounters Eco Tour from Melbourne on 15 March, and it was great! Mark K really went out of his way to make the day special for everyone. We were concerned about our morning pick up, because a firetruck blocked the street in front of our hotel. And unbeknownst to us, the city had actually closed the street due to construction! As we waited in front of our hotel, Mark K found us, introduced himself, and joked, "This is actually a walking tour today." LOL He then led us to the bus, which he had parked on the next street over, and we started our day. Throughout the day, Mark shared so much interesting information about our stops, and he made the day a lot of fun with the stops and walks we had. Mark knew so much about the Brighton Beach Boxes, the Moonlit Sanctuary, and the Little Penguins, and he kept the bus very organized and on time. He also kept us well informed about the stops we would make for food and toilets, which was helpful. His stories about the places we visited helped the trip go along quickly, and he had great recommendations on where to eat during our dinner stop. He pointed out the wallabies in the wild, and shared a lot of information about the Little Penguins. At each stop, he gave us a tour of the location, which was helpful and interesting. Mark was very friendly and respectful to everyone on the tour, and we were so happy to enjoy our day with him. Our only disappointment was that we felt that we had been led to believe by various sources that we'd see hundreds or even thousands of penguins emerging from the sea and waddling up the "Penguin Superhighway," but we saw only 30-50. However, that's not a criticism of the tour, since nature's gonna do what it's gonna do. Overall, it was a great journey because of Mark’s hospitality and knowledge. Thank you to Mark K and Go West Tours!

The Brighton Beach Boxes were fun to see. Could have skipped Moonlite Sanctuary though I understand how it may appeal to some. Visiting Woolamai Beach wasn’t much to talk about. The main appeal of this trip is the fairy penguins. You get to see & photograph them under the boardwalks at Nobbies & Seal Rock. On the way to the penguin parade keep an eye out for wallabies & echidnas. Our driver David N was informative & entertaining. A real delight.
