What To Expect
Theory...and then practice ! Visit of the Fragonard Perfume Factory in Grasse (30mn), combined with an olfactory workshop (15 minutes) Located south of the old Grasse town centre, the Fabrique des Fleurs was built in 1986 for the production of perfumes and soaps, since the Historical Factory had run out of space. While this factory invites you to a journey of discovery through the main stages of perfume making, the highly functional plant is equipped with today’s state-of-the-art production tools. A tour of the bottling workshops provides a glimpse of how the perfumed products that leave the factory are metamorphosed into refined products ready to be shipped to a public of discerning customers. In addition to the production lines, the building houses the laboratory where the raw materials are blended, after analysis, to obtain concentrates of the future perfumes. Our guide, Carina, demonstrated extraordinary competence, explaining every detail with impeccable professionalism and a touch of sympathy that made the visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend anyone passing by Grasse to stop here: it is an experience that really deserves.

5.00Firstly do not book the Fragonard 2 hr perfume making tour as a solo traveller unless you have transport as it is in the industrial estate - i got to Grasse with 1 hour to spare and could not find a taxi to get to the factory. The team at Fragonard were delightful and instantly refunded my money hence me going to the shop in the centre of Grasse which is a wonderful old town full of artisan shops. The 45 min free tour was really insightful and i learnt a lot and of course visited the shop!! If i went again i would book the shorter perfume making experience in the Fragonard Atelier - and avoid the industrial estate. Fully worth a visit - enjoy:)

2.00Clearly the workshop is not really of interest. We give you 3 vials of jasmine (we were jasmine but it sometimes changes) and you compose your vial , no autonomy to really choose its smell. No point. The guided tour is free and available on site!
