Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s busy capital, sits at the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers. It was a hub for both the Khmer Empire and French colonialists. On its walkable riverfront, lined with parks, restaurants and bars, are the ornate Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, displaying artifacts from around the country. At the city’s heart is the massive, art deco Central Market.
Royal Palace
The Royal Palace is one of Phnom Penh’s most iconic landmarks. The construction began in 1886 after King Norodom relocated the royal capital to Phnom Penh and was completed before World War I. Up until today, the palace is the primary residence of The King of Cambodia.

We enjoyed a wonderful trip with our guide Mr. Silong. We were taken to all the sites as promised in the itinerary. Explanations in English were detailed and all our questions were patiently answered. We would recommend this tour to everybody.

Excellent guide (and driver) allowed us to fit many highlights into one day. The Genocide Museum and Memorial are emotionally charged and we ended up doing one in the morning and one in the afternoon because of our own choice of lunch stop. It would probably have been better for us to have done them both together either in the morning or the afternoon to minimise the emotional rollercoaster.

Really awesome private day tour of Phnom Penh with our guide, Makara. He was super knowledgeable and shared a lot of history of the country with us so we could better understand what Cambodia has been through over the centuries. Highly recommend booking this tour and asking for Makara as your guide!

We visited Sihanoukville, Cambodia and took a bus tour that provided highlights of Phnom Penh. We visited the Royal Palace, the Silver Buddha, and the central market. We enjoyed visiting these places. Come prepared for rain with waterproof shoes, pants, jacket and umbrella.
