Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

Anna was an amazing and friendly tour guide. She customized the day for us as we requested. She helped us translate and gave us a bunch of details along our tour. Truong was our driver and his driving was smooth. We could not have asked for a better pair to help us through our day.

Comprehensive overview of Ho Chi Minh City. Our excellent tour guide, Jayden, was very positive, helpful, knowledgeable, a great communicator and very accommodating to our needs and wants. Our driver had a very clean car, was a terrific driver and we loved the AC too. The pre tour communication with the tour operator and tour guide was excellent, responsive and timely. Highly recommend!

This is a great private tour to see Saigon. We came with Holland America Noordam. Picked up from gate and dropped to the same place. We have seen palace, post office, bunker, tried vietnamese cofee, had a great lunch with local cousine in a hidden gem. Visited the Book street (my favorite place), art gallery and market. Bruno was excellent guide with perfect English, sense of humor and very knowledgeable.

Truly the most numbable part of the excretion was the group leader Hazel. Hazel is a young woman and so knowledgeable literally about everything Vietnam. We learned so much driving in the car in between each and every place. My favorite place was the Independence Palace. There were six of us in the band was beautiful which made the 90 minute drive each way from the ship port easy. We had a great day and really enjoyed learning so much about this beautiful country.
