What To Expect
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

5.00We had a wonderful traveling experience with our tour guide Anna and driver Binh. Friends and I booked this tour while traveling at Sea with Celebrity Cruises. Anna made the tour very enjoyable in the short amount of time we had. I would highly recommend Anna take you to the Museum for a longer period of time. The place Anna took us for lunch was also a great experience.

5.00We loved this excursion! Anna, our tour guide, was so friendly, so knowledgeable, and so accommodating to our needs. We learned so much from her, and had a great time throughout the day. Our driver, Vinh, was also great - the van was comfortable and clean, and he managed to drop us off and pick us up exactly when needed. I highly recommend this excursion, especially if you can get Anna as your guide!!

5.00This is a terrific tour. Our guide Anna & her driver Khanh made it a wonderful experience for 3 Canadians yesterday. The traffic is crazy but handled well by our driver. Anna’s description of the area was exceptional & informative. She went out of her way to make this a memorable experience for us & we have memories of Viet Nam to cherish forever. This was our second tour with Maximus Travels & they are fantastic to deal with. The personal touches, the communication from the start of booking go above & beyond. I would recommend this company to anyone travelling in beautiful Viet Nam. A huge thank you to everyone involved!!

5.00We had such a great time with Qui in Ho Chi Minh City today..He and our driver were waiting at the port for us when I ship docked with a sign with our name..He was great at communicating via Whatsapp the day before so we had clear instructions on how to find him. We saw all the important sites: a temple, the post office, presidential palace, the war remnants museum, a lacquer shop, the mall, the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City, and the market. We also had such a cool experience for lunch in a place for locals. We tried bahn mi, local coffee and tea. Qui customized the day to our preferences and was so personable and kind. We really enjoyed spending time with him and learning about the culture, language, and Vietnam. We would highly recommend him if you enjoy laughing and having a great time. He made sure we were back to the port in plenty of time. It was a great day.

5.00Castle was an excellent guide and the driver was fantastic. Castle was very professional, on time, good communicator and extremely knowledgeable of the history of Vietnam. We learned so much on our journey, not just historical facts but cultural info too. And let's not forget the food stops were very good too. Very fun day today!

5.00We booked this trip as a shore excursion day trip. We couldn’t have asked for more. Great communication before and after booking, easy pick up from cruise ship peer and our licensed guide Vin was very king and knowledgeable. He toured us around to all the key areas while the dedicated driver managed the trip. Vin recommended a Pho restaurant that was great. We were very pleased with this private tour. We got back to the shop without issue.

5.00We booked a private family excursion for a day in Saigon and had the great fortune of having Hao as our guide. He was waiting for us outside the terminal gate as planned and with a smile. He kept us entertained and informed for the drive into Saigon. We had a group of 7 and he was very proficient in keeping us all together, quickly gained our access to all the major sights, flexible with the timing and all-round attentive to our group needs. We chose the chicken Pho for lunch, and absolutely no regrets. Last stop for coffee before the trip back to the cruise terminal. If we have the fortune of coming back to Saigon, we will certainly be contacting Hao again. Thanks for the great day and memories my friend!
