What To Expect
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

5.00We booked this trip as a shore excursion day trip. We couldn’t have asked for more. Great communication before and after booking, easy pick up from cruise ship peer and our licensed guide Vin was very king and knowledgeable. He toured us around to all the key areas while the dedicated driver managed the trip. Vin recommended a Pho restaurant that was great. We were very pleased with this private tour. We got back to the shop without issue.

5.00We booked a private family excursion for a day in Saigon and had the great fortune of having Hao as our guide. He was waiting for us outside the terminal gate as planned and with a smile. He kept us entertained and informed for the drive into Saigon. We had a group of 7 and he was very proficient in keeping us all together, quickly gained our access to all the major sights, flexible with the timing and all-round attentive to our group needs. We chose the chicken Pho for lunch, and absolutely no regrets. Last stop for coffee before the trip back to the cruise terminal. If we have the fortune of coming back to Saigon, we will certainly be contacting Hao again. Thanks for the great day and memories my friend!

5.00Vin our tour guide was excellent! He was knowledgeable and kind. We achieved everything we wanted to do and then some. You can tell he was a certified tour guide. We recommended a pho restaurant for lunch and it was a very enjoyable experience. Lots of traffic so we were very fortunate to have an excellent driver as well. I would highly recommend this tour as well as the communication from the tour company was excellent as well.

5.00That was one of the best guided City tours ever made. Mr. Castle adapted our personal wishes perfectly into the tour and gave us a lot of background information about the places. We loved also the unique coffee shop, noodle restaurant and strolling through the local area and streets.

5.00We had a great time! Mr. Hao was an excellent tour guide. From the day prior to our tour until he dropped us back at our port, his communication skills were very good. He covered a great many topics and we were able to see the highlights of Ho Chi Minh City in the brief time that we had in port. As a resident, he provided us with a local’s perspective. I highly recommend this tour and Mr. Hao.

5.00It was really easy. Visiting a cruise port in a country where the port is industrial and far away from the city you want to visit can be stressful. Quang (Steve) and his driver made it so easy to be picked up, the communication took the stress away. They took us around the agreed locations with ease and Quang was really knowledgable and friendly. His English was SUPERB and even when his accent was difficult to follow in noisy areas he patiently explained everything we needed and he was always open to any question. We became good friends and he even shared a lot about his family and girlfriend. Quang made the entry into the Unification Palace and Museum really easy. He handles EVERYTHING while we were stood enjoying the city vibes. At the end of the tour we visited a market, this part of the tour is clearly a tourist trap designed to rip tourists off. Steve was happy for us to move on quickly and get a coffee somewhere which we appreciated. He even took us to a specific coffee shop on the way back to the ship upon request. I’d highly recommend this tour for anyone entering Phu My cruise port for a day out in Ho Chi Min, it takes the stress away and it’s only a little more expensive than the official cruise tours but you get your own private van, driver and tour guide for the day.

5.00Great trip from the Phú My cruise port. Our guide An picked us up at the port and we saw the major sights in Hộ Chi Minh. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The driver was fantastic in the crazy traffic. Good Balance of guided tour and free time. Would recommend!! 10/10! Thank you!!
