Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

J Kay was an amazing tour guide. Was on time picking us up at the port and the driver was excellent navigating us around the city. We saw all we could in our short time in Saigon and was definitely worth it!

We had a wonderful tour, seeing all the highlights of Saigon with Helen, our tour guide. She met us before the appointed time. She spoke excellent English and she was a joy to spend the day with. We got back to the ship early, as the driver took a shortcut, as traffic was terrible

There were six of us that booked this tour. With the guide and driver 8 total. very nice plush seat Van. The tour sketch is laid out well with time allotment for each site. My advice would be to adhere to the schedule so you don’t miss anything later in the tour. Our tour guide Anna, was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

We were a party of 8 and booked this tour before we left the UK. The communication beforehand was excellent and Anna was standing on the pier to greet us. We travelled to Saigon in a clean, modern minibus with an excellent driver. Anna gave a good commentary on the trip into the city. We had numerous visits in the city with a couple of highlights being the local market and the war remnants museum. We were the treated to a superb lunch (included) at a lovely restaurant. A few more sights and then back to the ship. To see and learn so much in one day was amazing. Cannot thank Anna and the driver enough. Highly recommended.

Comfortable car for groups. The guide, Bruno, very friendly and tries to speak and learn Spanish. He showed us the old and French part of the city but also the local area where he took us to eat traditional Vietnamese dishes. Fully recommended.

Wonderful, authentic feeling tour of the main attractions of the city. Our guide Kai was super knowledgeable and personable and a very good English speaker. We ate lunch at a great local place, had a delicious Vietnamese coffee and spent about 1H at the War Remnants museum which was solemn but very interesting. Despite the congestion and traffic in HCM city, Kai and our driver got us around the city efficiently and safely and most importantly got us back to our ship in plenty of time. Others on our cruise did excursions on coach buses through the cruise line and this was definitely a better experience since it was private and easier to get around in a smaller car and smaller group.

We had a wonderful traveling experience with our tour guide Anna and driver Binh. Friends and I booked this tour while traveling at Sea with Celebrity Cruises. Anna made the tour very enjoyable in the short amount of time we had. I would highly recommend Anna take you to the Museum for a longer period of time. The place Anna took us for lunch was also a great experience.
