Join Captain Will Radford on a pirate sea cave adventure! Participants are encouraged to DRESS AND TALK LIKE A PIRATE while hiking along the rocky shore, exploring tide pools, viewing of steep cliffs and visiting a giant sea cave. Sing sea shanties and hear tall tales of buccaneers, sea monsters and buried treasure. Bring full meal in a backpack to enjoy at the cave. UNEVEN/WET TERRAIN, LOOSE ROCKS, SUN EXPOSURE AND CHANCE OF GETTING FEET WET. ROUGHLY 1 MILE ROUND-TRIP. DATE & TIME ARE DETERMINED BY LOW TIDE & WEATHER CONDITIONS.

What To Expect
Dana Point
Pass the Ocean Institute and jetty to a stairway, which offers beach access to one of the most wild, scenic and historic parts of the Southern California coast. Walk the rocky tide pools along the base of steep cliffs to a giant sea cave located at the very point of Dana Point.
Dana Point Harbor
See the Spirit of Dana Point tall ship, Garibaldi fish, paddle boarders, the jetty and the Ocean Institute.

5.00Our guide was fantastic! He was very committed to us having a wonderful time. He encouraged questions regarding all the sea creatures and plants that were visible during low tide. My daughter experienced being touched by a small octopus under the guide’s guidance. The guide was fascinated with our finds and enthusiastically explained what it was. He then gave an incredible performance in the cave. This adventure provides our family with joy when we recall the experience.

5.00Definitely a lot of fun. We didn't do it with a guide, due to timing..... however I'm sure the guide would have made the experience so much more exciting and memorable. Strongly recommend taking hiking/tennis shoes. If you arrive at medium tide, like we did, then be prepared to walk barefoot for a section or change into water shoes.

5.00Place is not on the popular side, not on the boat side. It's on the rocks side. Better go there in the morning, otherwise waves tides will make you hard to walk on the rocks road, easy get wet to your shoes and pants. But it's worthy to see the cave.

5.00Really awesome! There were so many great things to see, so many sea creatures in the tide pools, the captain was really funny and a great guide. He played really fun songs and told wonderful stories! The caves were amazing!! We were able to see the sun setting in the caves and it was just beautiful. Absolutely perfect. Highly recommended :)
