What To Expect
Pompeii
At arrival in Pompeii your Skip-the-Line tickets to the ancient site will be much appreciated as you breeze past the long lines and enter into this time capsule of the ancient Roman world. Here you will meet your local, expert, English speaking guide who knows all the hidden corners and interesting tales that are waiting to be discovered inside. Visit the marvelously preserved ancient villas, public baths, restaurants, theatres, and maybe even a brothel, of the ancient world as the past comes to life through the insights and stories of your enthusiastic guide.
Costiera Amalfitana
After some free time for a few last pictures of Pompeii and lunch (at own expense) the tour will continue further south along the picturesque seaside roads of the Amalfi Coast where the Dolce Vita was born. Here your breath will be taken away by the spectacular coastlines as the mountains cascade into the sea and romantic villages climb up the mountains like grapevines.

5.00Our tour bus guide and Pompeii guide, Antonino and Lilia were outstanding in their knowledge of history, culture, food traditions, etc, etc, This is because they are Italians and they learned all these since before kindergarten. The tour is extremely well organized. It is clear that the local company “City Wonders” has learned from years of experience. We were fourteen, seven adults and seven children and we did the tour toward the end of November. The weather in Rome was still OK. Important advice: Do not come to Italy during the Summer (overcrowded, extreme heat and humidity) unless you really want to torture yourself and your family.

2.00This was a VERY long day and while the tour guide Valentina was excellent, as well as our driver Theo, the very cramped seats of the bus for 11 HOURS was NOT worth it. It should not even be offered as a trip from Rome. Pompeii was amazing as well as the Amalfi coast, but we were in Pompeii 2 hours and in Positano for 90 minutes. The rest of the day was sitting on a bus with NO Leg Room.

5.00It was a long day but it honestly did not feel like a long day. It was a big group. My tour the English guide was sick so another lady took the English and Spanish speaking groups together. This only really affected the bus ride as we had our own English speaking guide at Pompeii. The bus ride was great. We stopped after an hour at Mo te Cassino, THE Monte Cassino from WWII so that was a bonus. Get a sandwich here. It was so good. Once we got to Pompeii the tour guide was really great. So worth the trip just for this. Before leaving we stopped for the OG Margarita Pizza which was amazing. We then drove to Positano. The drive was beautiful but if you get motion or car sick I recommend Dramamine because the roads are very curvy. Before arriving we stopped at the lemons spritz factory and gift shop where we transitioned to smaller vans for the final leg to positano. The drive was beautiful so have your camera out. We had about an hour and a half to explore Positano and walk to the beach. It was a bit short but we still felt we had enough time to see everything. The drive back was the longest because of rush hour around Naples but it was dark anyways so a good time to sleep. Overall totally worth the money. We are so glad we decided to go at the last minute
