This experience combines the two archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, famous for the eruption of Mount Vesuvius happened in 79 AD.
Join the guide at the entrance of Pompeii ruins called Porta Marina Inferiore, where the tour starts.
Discover the site and its best highlights with the assistance of an expert Archaeologist.
You will see the Forum – the main square – the most important houses and buildings and the famous plaster casts.
After the tour take a quick break, then reach the site of Herculaneum by the local metro line called Circumvesuviana at a few steps from Pompeii entrance.
End your tour with the site of Herculaneum, smaller than Pompeii but better preserved: visit the beach where more than 300 skeletons were found.

5.00This is a long day but worth it. We were passing through Naples on the way to Sorrento from Rome. Did not want to navigate travel to both sites with luggage/private driver so this was an excellent option. Early train from Rome to Naples. Stored our luggage near the airport. All travel/tickets handled by the tour. Our guide, Gennaro, was wonderful. He was very enthusiastic about showing us the sites. Don’t expect to see every single thing at Pompeii. You can’t. But you will see good examples of many types of things, with helpful explanations. Lunch was at a shopping mall which was quite a fancy mall and had probably 20 different eateries. The gelato was the best. Plenty of time to take a break then on to Herculaneum. Similar but different, much smaller, and we were getting pretty tired. But I’m so glad we saw both with a knowledgeable guide. We arrived back in Naples with plenty of time to catch the last campania express train to Sorrento.

4.00Paolo, our tour guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and informative. The only area for improvement was the trip from Sorrento to Pompeii. We were provided no details on any areas we were passing through.

3.00I would give this tour five stars because of the amazing experience of visiting these sites and because Diego, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable. But after completing the tour of Pompeii, we waited about two hours to start the tour of Herculaneum. We had to wait for the train from Pompeii to Herculaneum, ride the train (3 or 4 stops), get off the train and walk about 6 or 8 blocks, wait about 20 minutes for the tour to start at Herculaneum. I insist, Diego was extremely knowledgeable and the experience truly amazing. But the waste of time of about 2+ hours, totally unjustifiable. Wouldn’t it be more practical and convenient (and perhaps cheaper for them) to bus visitors from Pompeii to Herculaneum? Had we known about this waste of time, we would have chosen another tours company.

5.00Our guide, Paolo, gave a great tour. His knowledge of Pompeii and Herculaneum sites was deep, he had a flair for storytelling, and he was funny and authentic. He used our time well and was eager to show us the most impactful areas of these huge sites. He clearly wanted our group to have a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this tour from Paolo.

5.00Never used Viator before but canceled a private tour for 2 then took a chance on a group tour through Akos for Pompeii and Herculaneum- fabulous experiences especially because our tour guide Paolo, was superb, knowledgeable, and funny. Learned so much about Roman life circa 79 AD from his patient explanation of large and small details, history and archaeology at these historic sites. Highly recommend.
