This experience combines the two archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, famous for the eruption of Mount Vesuvius happened in 79 AD.
Join the guide at the entrance of Pompeii ruins called Porta Marina Inferiore, where the tour starts.
Discover the site and its best highlights with the assistance of an expert Archaeologist.
You will see the Forum – the main square – the most important houses and buildings and the famous plaster casts.
After the tour take a quick break, then reach the site of Herculaneum by the local metro line called Circumvesuviana at a few steps from Pompeii entrance.
End your tour with the site of Herculaneum, smaller than Pompeii but better preserved: visit the beach where more than 300 skeletons were found.

5.00Our tour guide is an archeologist and passionate about the area, the discoveries, the history and the ancient culture. He gave a thorough account of the site and showed us the highlights, going to additional areas as the lower November crowds allowed. He welcomed and answered questions. Visiting Pompeii has been on my bucket list forever and our guide made the visit perfect! On the other hand, we signed up for the 8:30 tour, left our beautiful seaside hotel’s breakfast to ensure we arrived on time (instructions said the driver would only wait five minutes) only to be told “there’s plenty of time, go have breakfast” by our driver as soon as he arrived. We stressed to be on time ourselves yet the tour left about half an hour late as we awaited another party. Would have been nice to get a text saying the start time was 9:00, we would not have had to give up a delicious relaxing Sorrento breakfast to hang out waiting. Also, the lunch break at a local major shopping mall gave the group a choice of restaurants but would have been nice to stop at a place more in line with local cuisine. All said, our fantastic guide more than made up for the late start and uninspiring lunch spot.
Great day but check transportation options so you indeed have a great day.

5.00Great tour package from Sorrento to the venues. Guide, transport all perfecto. Viator was not perfecto as the package did not include transportation. Only found out about it the night before when the local tour group emailed me. Viator, we would have been lost without this connection. No car, it would have made transportation very difficult. Please in the future list this as a total package!!!!!!

5.00Great tour! My guide was Diego. He was passionate about both sites and was full of insider information. A warning though, there is much walking involved. I walked a total of 5.8 miles between the two sites. Well worth the trip and the money.

5.00Amadeo was extremely knowledgeable and well spoken. He provided extensive information regarding Pompeii history and did so in an interesting way. He provided even more information in Herculaneum and took time to go through the site. Only wish we had more time in both sites, especially Pompeii. Highly recommended, especially when you can see both in one excursion.
