We did the Pompeii and Mt VESUVIUS tour. Both guides were knowledgeable. Sergio was the archeologist on the Pompeii tour and Mario was the guide for the hike.luigi was our driver who drove us from Pompeii to Mt Vesuvius. The group for the Pompeii tour was a large group of 20, but the Mt Vesuvius was just our family of 6. The communication between Sergio and Mario could have been better since he didn’t know where or when we were supposed to meet with Mario after the Pompeii tour.

Amazing from start to finish. We stayed in Seiano, which was a easy train ride to Pompei Scavi, off the train Pompei itself was on the opposite side of the road. There was Askos Tours waiting to great everyone. Guilia our archaeologist was brilliant, her knowledge was outstanding, her English was superb and so was her humour. She spent 2 hours or just over with us. On reflection we are so glad to we had someone to explain everything to us, as the map was very basic and it would be a guessing game then of what was what. We then had 45mins to ourselves to finish looking around and then head back to the same meeting point to be greeted by Mario who took us to the Vesuvius on bus. Again definitely worth having a guide as the knowledge he also had was outstanding, and didn't miss a beat with his English vocabulary!!! It's not an "easy" trek in 32° heat but it's do able at a slow pase with children, mine moaned but not awful ha ha!! And when you got to the top, oh my gosh were we in for a treat!!!! I can't put into words what it's like at the top. We were met by another volcanists who again was brilliant and so so knowledgeable. We spent quite a lot of time at the top, so we could take it all in. Mario was very happy to answer questions, even if he was repeating himself to my 7yr old. Then we walked back down to the waiting bus back to Pompei. All in all it was a wonderful experience and very very easy. My only nip pick if I had to have one was that we didn't get to see all of Pompei as there wasn't enough time between the two, but we were happy with this because we felt Guilia took us to all the best bits anyway and explained about it so much that we didn't need to see more of the same. So all in all we were very happy with our experience. Gracie Mille once again!!!!!

We had a great experience discovering Pompeii! Our archaeologist guide was very knowledgeable about the site as well as current excavations. He was willing to answer any questions we had and he made this “bucket list” stop worth it! We had about an hour break for some lunch before our hike to Vesuvius. There are a couple cafes down the hill where you can grab a sandwich and a beverage. After, we met up with our hiking guide Mario, who drove us to a drop off point near the top of Vesuvius. He gave us history about the area along the way and was very entertaining! From the drop off point, it was about a 3/4 mile distance walk uphill with stunning views and breaks as needed. The walk around the caldera is mostly flat, and Mario shared lots of information about the geology and biology of the area. The total walk was about 2.5 miles. There are souvenir shops along the way and a refreshment stand at the top that sells wine from vineyards on the slopes of Vesuvius. Bring cash if you think you want to purchase a glass!

We very happy with the Pompeii and Vesuvius tour. We visited Vesuvius first and our guide Mario was excellent. He went at a comfortable pace for our 10-person group while stopping every so often to offer interesting insight into the volcano. We spent about two hours on the trails of Vesuvius. After arriving back in Pompeii we had an hour break for lunch then we spent a little over two hours touring the ruins with another fabulous guide. He was so knowledgeable of the ruins and its history while answering any questions thrown his way. 10 out of 10!

We booked this trip for my husband’s birthday as he always wanted to visit Pompeii. We couldn’t have asked for more. Teresa was a fantastic guide and with her archeological background, was full of knowledge and interesting facts. She answered our questions easily and showed as excellent areas of the city of Pompeii. Ask for Teresa if you can! We also thoroughly enjoyed the trip up Mount Vesuvius. Mario was a wonderful guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. The taxi ride up to the hiking point was a little nerve-wracking (lots of tight bends) but totally worth the views after the hike to the top of the volcano. Good walking shoes are a must as the ground is very slippery with loose sand in the summer. An excellent day; my husband loved every minute!
