Unfortunately it was very misty, however we still climbed to the top. The guide was very informative. You need suitable walking shoes.

I want to start out by saying Nicoletta was the best tour guide for Pompeii! She gave so many interesting facts about the place that made the ruins come to life! Also the hike to Mount Vesuvius was so beautiful and not too hard (wear good shoes though). Our tour guide for Mount Vesuvius canceled last minute due to sickness, but Viator set us up with a bus and an audio guide, which was fine. And they partially refunded us as well. They were very easy to work with and I would recommend this to anybody!!

Great, fantastic tour guide at Pompeii, he was fabulous, and so educational. However DO NOT RECOMMEND this tour company. Mount Vesuvius part of the tour was canceled because of weather, which we completely understand, but we were promised a refund when we were there and then the company REJECTED our refund. I reached out on the chat several times, the company kept saying “we are looking into it” until they closed the chat. The tour guide told us that the Mt Vesuvius tickets the company had purchased were refundable, yet we did not receive this money back and the company kept the money. USE A DIFFERENT TOUR COMPANY, THIS COMPANY REFUSED TO REFUND US WHEN HALF THE TOUR WAS CANCELED.

We participated in the Tour of Pompeii with Benedetto. He gave us a lot of interesting information as well as tips on viewing the current excavations and where to eat/drink during the break between the tours. He was very knowledgeable and had worked on the excavations for 17 years. The second half of our day was the Mount Vesuvius tour. Mario was very professional and also very informative on the mechanism of the eruption itself, how it affected Pompeii and Herculaneum and the current state of Vesuvius and the risk to the surrounding area. We highly rate both tour guides. The tour company states they will cancel the Vesuvius portion of the tour and refund the money if the weather is bad. Prior to leaving Pompeii, at least half of Mt. Vesuvius was covered by clouds and fog but the tour proceeded anyway. At the top we encountered high winds, rain and very dense fog and only a few feet of visibility. We could not even see the crater when standing right next to it. On our way back the entrance to the crater was actually closed. Obviously, the tour operator did not want to lose the fees but the trip should not have proceeded.

I did a lot of research and had actually booked with another company and changed to these guys and I am glad. The first part, through Pompeii was really amazing and our guide Mario was great. He is very knowledgeable and was always checking that everyone was happy and if we had any questions, which he would gladly answer. His pace was just right. He had great tips for those staying longer in Pompeii ruins as to what to see after. The site is huge and you could easily spend a full day there. If you have the time I would suggest you do. The second part of the tour was to Vesuvius and we were met by our next guide, also called Mario and also great. He warned the ladies in the group about the porta loo situation at the mountain and pointed them in the direction of the toilets at the meeting point. We then were transported up the mountain in a very comfortable air conditioned Mercedes 9 seater people mover. Once at the start of the walk we were straight through the gate and up we commenced at a steady but not difficult pace, with stops on the way to explain points and keep the group together. Great facts and stories to make the tour very interesting. The additional volcano guide we picked up at the first shop, Stefano, was also brilliant. Overall it was a great tour and very well run with more than enough time on Vesuvius itself and a great introduction to Pompeii to wet the appetite for more exploring. Absolutely great trip and so glad we went with this company. I can't recommend them highly enough. Brilliant, thanks Mario and Mario !!!

Our Pompeii guide Teresa was super nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Because it was raining we went to Herculeneum and our guide Luciano was awesome, very funny and entertanining. Both our guides made the trip much butter.

First off below average experience with Viator. The tour company was extremely unorganized and not punctual at all. Several people told us different times, lines, and groups. The Pompeii tour was worth doing but the headsets did not work and the guide did not hit the points listed in the tour description. A tour of Pompeii is definitely needed just not sure this is it. As far as Vesuvius that is why my review is this high. The guide Mario was great especially when it came to breaks and not rushing. He was patient and informative. Bus was not air conditioned but it wasn’t needed for this time of year. Having a guide at the top of Vesuvius was a great additional bonus. Overall long day recovered by Mario and the climb of Vesuvius.

Roberta was a spectacular tour guide for the Pompeii portion of the tour. Her knowledge of the history and archeology of the area was amazing. Mario did a fantastic job guiding us on the Mount Vesuvius portion of the tour. Mario was able to communicate his vast knowledge of volcanology and the geology of the entire area , in a way that kept us mesmerized. Mario was also patient with us older people on the steep climb up to the crater.
