This was such an amazing trip! Firstly our tour guide Lillia was so passionate and was very clear explaining everything to us. It was very well organised. Lillia took us to the interesting parts of pompeii. We learnt alot. We also got to see the new excurvation going on which was amazing. The coach driver romel ( i hope ive spelt correct) was explaining everything along the journey upto pompeii. He had a great sense of humour and really made the trip fun. Was very well organised, meeting point with city wonders was accurate with arrival and departure times. Such a lovely, emotional and fun day of history, with a tour guide who made it extra special. Thankyou.

A wonderful full day away from Rome while seeing amazing ruins in Pompeii and magnificent views atop Mt. Vesuvius. What we recognized is the sense of life walking the preserved streets of Pompeii. You could almost sense the people going about their daily business, before the eruption. We did not expect the size of the city and the details still vivid from the homes and business. Anna, our guide was fantastic, lunch was very good, and the bus travel there and back provided a beautiful view of Italy's countryside.

The check-in went smoothly, everything was on time, and explained thoroughly. The tour was about 2 hours long and our tour guide was very informative. Pompeii is such a beautiful, but sad place. I highly recommend this tour.

Would not recommend this trip if you want to see Pompeii properly, rather than ticking it off your list. We spent barely 1 1/2 hours there and it felt we spent more time at the toilet stops! The Pizza lunch stop was too long and whilst others say the "views are amazing" , you need to do that when you get off the bus before going into the restaurant as you are not guaranteed a view. The pizza was Ok and on this day, they served the full bus of 42 people quickly. We were unlucky with the weather at Mt Vesivus and the track was closed when we arrived. We waited at the top in the bus for 20 min before saying, we don't have time to wait any longer, but then stopped for 30 minutes half way down the mountain, next to a lemoncillo tasting spot but had to wait on bus for instructions from head office. At first they said we would go to Sorrento instead, but 10 minutes, later, due to "traffic", we could not go there and headed back to Rome. As we got off the mountain, we all waived to a clear and cloud free Mt Vesivus. Due to the company not wanting to pay parking fees at the top (as was explained by our guide). we missed out on seeing Mt Vesivus. So overall, with the limited time at Pompeii itself and the mishandling of the Mt Vesivus section, I would not recommend this trip. Oh, and there was one person ticking off people for several different tours at the meeting spot, which was really inefficient. I heard the person rudely tell someone they were too early and too come back later.

Carlo, our guide, was fabulous. He was very passionate about sharing information and very personable and fun to listen to. I would not have enjoyed Pompeii as much without his guidance. He led us to the most important sites that made the most of the limited time we had there. We had about a two hour tour, no Vesuvius and no lunch option. I expected to buy lunch on my own during the 45 mins free time portion of the day. I am knocking off one star because the lunch was not well explained. We who chose to return to the meeting point restaurant were all funneled into a large room with no menus and no explanation. I went up to the staff and found out that the price would be €18 for pizza, dessert, and a drink. I was NOT ok with the lunch prepared with no questions asked. Everyone was given cheese/Margherita pizzas. I am lactose intolerant so I cannot eat this pizza or dessert. Another woman in our group could not eat gluten. How can they expect to just feed people a surprise pizza in this world of many dietary needs? Luckily, I explained to them quickly enough so I got a cheese-less pepperoni pizza instead, but they charged me €4 extra for the meat. I really wanted to just see a menu and pick something lactose free for me, and something low-sugar low carb for my diabetic mother. Instead they assumed we can all eat this pizza without consulting with the guests first. They should just clearly inform people, that there is a discounted combo option , and ask if we would like to participate. I would gladly lose the discount over losing my health, eating foods that would make us terribly ill. Restaurant Vesuvius should be clear with each guest next time, especially since we had not chosen lunch as part of our tour package. Now aside from this terrible lunch oversight, the tour itself was Excellent!! The guide was great, the bus ride was long but comfortable, and included a rest stop each way with free toilets and sandwiches and souvenirs for purchase. The communication in the viator app was good. Overall I recommend this tour! Just plan to avoid the Vesuvius restaurant at the end. Choose a neighboring restaurant or Caffe, or talk to the staff immediately instead of waiting around for no menus like I did.

We went with guide Paola. When we arrived in Pompeii, we were split into smaller groups and had local guides. These things could have been better: - let us visit the official Pompeii gift store - apparently there was no time but we ended up waiting 15 minutes for our bus - allow us to have 15 minutes more time to reach the Vesuvius summit - on the way back we spent time at a store selling lemon products - this is not on the tour description so I think the organizer gets a cut - please omit this obvious tourist trap and give us more time in Pompeii or Vesuvius Otherwise it was a good taster of Pompeii. It was quick but it was also very hot. So we were ready to go after 2 hours there.

Marius was a kind guide for this long and hot day . He helped me negotiate the hot uneven pompei streets because I have a mobility disorder and told me where I coujd rest in the shade while the others were climbing Vesuvius.

Okay, this one is at least partially on me. We did the Pompeii tour WITH the Vesuvius crater hike, and it didn't include enough time in Pompeii. Mind you: the drive from Rome to Pompeii takes ~3 hours in each direction, so fully half of your tour is spent on a bus. To her credit, Anna made the time fly with her history lessons. To be fair, the Vesuvius crater hike was cool. But ultimately, it is the caldera of a volcano that is not erupting. You can see these all over the world. The thing you can't find anywhere else is Pompeii, and our visit felt quite rushed. It was ~2 hours total. We saw the small theater, the House of the Lovers, a thermopolium, the Lupanare, walked through a terme, the forum, and the Antiquarium (but did not spend long in any of these). We did NOT see the granary, the amphitheater, the House of the Faun, the House of the Vettii, the Villa of the Mysteries, or much else. Furthermore, our tour guide in the ancient city was barely fluent in English. Much of the time was spent awkwardly waiting for him to remember the word he wanted, and often substituting something else. I had to restrain myself from trying to help him. Most galling, was that instead of spending more time in Pompeii, we spent over an hour eating a relatively mediocre Margherita pizza while sitting down (a sandwich on the bus would have saved time), about 20 minutes listening to a charismatic Neapolitan gentleman hawk his limoncello (it was fine, but I would have preferred 20 more minutes in Pompeii) and a truly stunning 50+ mins (~15 mins on the way there and ~35 mins on the way back) at a glorified freeway rest stop in Cassino where they sold Lacryma Christi that had been maintained at a piping hot 75 degrees F. Christ was not the only one left in tears... If I have any advice to give, it would be: find an all day tour of Pompeii. You will spend 6 hours on the road from Rome. For a 12 hour tour, that leaves you 6 hours to explore an ancient city that they have been excavating since 1748. Don't dilute your experience with crap you can find elsewhere.
