The hike up to the crater of Vesuvius requires a good level of general fitness. The walk is uphill at a 14 degree angle and takes roughly 20 minutes.

5.00We started the day bright and early and travelled to Pompeii. Our guide Laura was extremely knowledgeable of the sites along the way offering a wealth of knowledge and advice whilst staying in Rome. We had a comfort break along the way where staff were friendly and there was a range of pastries and souvenirs. The tour around Pompeii was led by Willy who again was amazing with lots of knowledge. He led a fantastic tour and even though we were only there for 2 hours we saw lots and had a really good feel for Pompeii and what life used to be like. After this we travelled to mount versuvius. Before we went up we had a lovely traditional pizza and lemon cake. Travelling up mount versuvius was worth it once you are up at the top. Took us 25 minutes to reach the crater at the top and see the stunning views of the bays of Naples. A fantastic day all round!

5.00Pompeii is another world and I was so glad we visited it. The trip was a “taste” of Pompeii and I will visit again… this time for a longer, more in-depth guided tour. The cost is reasonable given that the arrangements were seamless once at the meeting spot.

5.00This is a really nice day trip. The guides - Viviana (trip guide) and Giancarla (Pompeii guide), and the driver Gianni (truly masterful at parking) were all amazing. The hike to the crater at Mount Vesuvius is worth it, but not an easy climb, especially after a full pizza lunch. I should have skipped dessert (nah, it was too delicious). The day went from 7:15 a.m. checkin to 8:30-9 p.m return to Piazza del Popolo. The coach bus is comfortable and easy to nap on. Prepare for all types of weather. We had sun, rain, hail, and wind on the mountain. I'm sure this wasn't normal, but better to be prepared. It's definitely colder and windier on top. This is an adventure I highly recommend. And this is also the fourth City Wonders tour I've taken between sites in Paris and Rome. This company is far more organized than others and the staff are great.

5.00Wow!! Highly recommended. It was a long day but still worth it. We learned so much and we’re left wanting more. Pompeii is an incredible site I don’t think we would’ve understood what we were looking at if we went on our . The hike up the mountain was amazing. Our tour guides did an excellent job!

5.00The guides Viviana for the bus and Giancarla for the ruins of Pompei were excellent. We had an excellent experience in Pompei. Very thorough. We Saw much of the city in 2 hours. It was not possible to go to all the ruins in 2 hours (arena and several homes were skipped) however Giancarla gave a thorough explanation to what we saw. She was a fountain of knowledge. The lunch was excellent with Neopolitan pizza. The trip to Vesuvius was on foot after a certain level. Bus driver Gianni did an excellent job from Rome and taking us to the entrance of the path up the mountain and back.if you are in Rome this tour is well done to be able to see Pompeii and Vesuvius in one day. They made timely stops for use of bathroom facilities as well.

5.00This tour delivered on what it said it would- a walk with a geologist half way up the mountain with interesting detail and a not too difficult walk. Then a surprise rest stop with limoncello samples, then on to Naples for a pizza lunch. (The pizza was good, but they could skip the appetizers.) Next we traveled to Pompeii for a tour with Enrique who was very knowledgeable. The entire experience was fascinating- not too long or short- we saw all the highlights without overtiring or boring us. Marius, our tour guide, kept us organized and on time. The trip was thoughtfully divided with rest stops and opportunities for snacks. I appreciated not spending excessive time in souvenir shops which I have on other tours. Marius also gave us interesting facts and stories about Rome, Italy, Pompeii and Naples. He made sure each of our individual needs and questions were answered. One suggestion- City Wonders should get working WiFi for each bus- the unit in our bus didn’t work, but Marius allowed me to use an extra hotspot of his so I could respond to family questions promptly. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it!
