The hike up to the crater of Vesuvius requires a good level of general fitness. The walk is uphill at a 14 degree angle and takes roughly 20 minutes.

4.00A great option to see both Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius from Rome in a single long day returning to Rome by dinner time. You may have a more relaxed time at both attractions if you plan an entire day for each with different tours so that you have time explore more after the tour and to take your time climbing up Mount Vesuvius because it is a bit challenging and you may not want to be rushed as it is very steep. I didnt even try to go all the way because I could tell I would need more than the allowed time being a little older and slower walking. My son was very glad we did it and he made it to the top with someone from Ukraine that was on the tour with us. They did use headsets during the Pompeii portion of the tour which made it easy to hear even though there were about 15 or so of us in our group. Angela was an excellent guide and very informative and watchful recovering someone who got lost in Pompeii from our group. A smaller group tour with a longer duration separating these two parts (Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii) would be nice if you have the time. Otherwise, this is a wonderful tour.

5.00Visiting Pompeii and Vesuvius was an amazing experience highlighted by excellent guides and driver. I recommend City Wonders, Natascia, whole heartedly. She provided not only useful information of the sites we were visiting but shared a perspective of Italian life. It made the whole experience fun and entertaining! I also highly recommend the hike up to the crater of Vesuvius - breathtaking!

5.00Combining Pompeii and Vesuvius is an obvious choice. I wasn’t sure I was up to the hike but made it to the top. The guide from City Tours Errica was terrific and the guide at Pompeii was good too. Great experience

5.00This. Trip. Was. Everything! Talk about an amazing day!! Timely, informative and comfortable. Sarah was a wonderful bus host/tour guide, and Maximilian was great behind the wheel. Even winding up and down the streets leading to the peak of Mt Vesuvius, it was smooth sailing for our group of 51!

5.00Huge meetup that gets divided. Our guide was Kler. She was amazing! Also she has great comedic timing haha. Very informative tour it’s long but worth if you have the time. Sergio the bus driver, good God man! you sir can drive!! Also the BEST pizza i have ever had. A Margarita pizza it was so so good ! We saw absolutely nothing because of the fog when hiking Mt Vesuvius. you could barely see in front of you, but the experience itself was amazing. Kler was so so kind in sharing her pictures from a clear day! She took the time to show everyone and answer all our questions multiple times! Federica in Pompeii was very informative and was great at leading us through all the people.
