13 hours total travel time. the bus stops every 1 to 1.5 hours for breaks and sight seeing. our only issue with this tour was the time we were given when we got to Pompeii. At the site of Pompeii you have to use guides from the site, which is provided in the tour price. We were guided around the ruins of the site for over an hour then given less than 5 minutes to see the museum which is where all of the interesting artifacts are located. Most of the group we traveled with had the same disappointment with the actual site tour. Our overall experience with the tour operator, Sonia our guide, and driver Luca was great. trying to get all of it into one day becomes exhausting. The main reason for us booking this tour from Rome to Sorrento was the stop at Pompeii. if you are short on time or want to see more of the country it is good value, but if you have a specific destination in mind, try to book a tour that focuses on just that.

Be prepared for a long trip but great views. Tour guide Chaira kept the long rides engaging by talking about the history of the spots we were driving past.

We had a fabulous time on our trip in Rome to post Diana, Sorrento and the Almafi coast. As you can see from this post, we were supposed to go to Pompeii, but they changed our tour and did not let us know so we did not go to Pompeii. Which kind of sad about that but we had the best Bus tour guide and best bus driver ever! Edwardo and Lucas what a team! I don’t know how Edwardo talked for nearly 12 hours telling us things from what we were going to see an experience to Rome food and culture to what to watch out for in Rome, etc.!

1. Our day started out with our tour guide Luisa continuously complaining about the rain and fog and how we wouldn’t be able to see several things along the way. Of course it’s not anyone’s fault it was raining, but I could’ve done with more positivity instead of constant moans about how it wouldn’t be a great day. 2. Our tour guide gave very little historical context on what we were seeing, I wish we could have had more background. 3. The timing of the tour itself wasn’t as advertised. In total the full day was around 15 hours, with our guide saying “you should feel lucky since we usually do not get back until 10pm”. The tour was only supposed to be 12 hours. 4. The Limoncello tasting was an ill -disguised tourist trap that did not match the outlined description. We were ushered in and given a small taste of limoncello and meloncello, then brought into a gift shop. There was no explanation on the history of limoncello, nor did we get tips for how to make it at home. I could have done without this stop to get more time in either Pompeii or Sorrento. 5. We spent limited time in Pompeii, and the tour seemed very rushed. Our Pompeii tour guide was very knowledgeable but I wish we had seen more of the excavated art and mosaics instead of multiple streets and fountains. After the tour, we weren’t given much time to see the gift shop before we had to go to meet the guide. (Despite being 4 minutes early to the meetup time, our guide Luisa was walking away when we met up with them). (This highlights another concern, there was no good way to track the guests through the day. I was afraid people would be left behind multiple times if they didn’t have a friend or family member to callout that they weren’t there. In fact we did leave behind someone at one point and had to turn around. 6. We felt little option other than to get the €18 pizza lunch that was offered, and it was a very chaotic and unorganized experience getting the food. 7. I knew Sorrento would be a stop but I wish we had more time to explore and have a meal. Overall, I don’t regret doing the trip because I’ve wanted to go to Pompeii for a while! But it was overshadowed by the disorganization of our guide and inaccurate tour description. Shoutout to our bus driver for killing it with the crazy roads though
