It was a brilliant experience in visiting Pompeii & then Sorrento. The coach journey was very long but worth it.

  • Informative tour, not enough time

Federica our local tour guide was very informative. Pompeii is huge so we only got to see a small portion of the place. The tour of the limoncello factory is a joke!, you just quickly walk thru a factory and a the end they give you a tiny sip of limoncello. No one explains how the limoncello is made. At the end you walk in to a gift shop where they sell over priced merchandise ( 8 euros for a shot glass and 65 euros for a spoon rest) Sorrento is a nice little town, you get almost 2 hours there, enough time to walk around and do some shopping. Keep in mind that a lot of the stuff they sell is made in china so look at the labels before you buy. Valentina the main tour guide wasn’t very engaging or enthusiastic. We traveled with young children and it was almost impossible to find a seat in the bus for us to be together. Families with young children should be given priority to board the bus first so the family can stay together.

  • Pompei was good but don't go on a Sunday

The tour at Pompei was enjoyable although we didn't have nearly enough time there, we didn't get to visit the gift shop as we were rushed at the end and ended up being given cold pizza to eat on a coach so we could rush to the next stop. The guide at Pompei was very good. The trip to the Limoncello factory was pointless as it was a Sunday and the factory was closed, so there was nothing to see, except for the gift shop. The same applied to Sorrento, as there was very little open, both restaurants and shops and most of the group were back at the bus station way before the coach arrived to pick up as there wasn't really anything to do. It would have been much better to have spent more time in Pompei. The guide for the day was a disappointment. Although he was knowledgeable and gave lots of information on the journey, when we arrived at each stop, he walked off so fast that many people struggled to keep up with him. When he met us all at the square and then walked to the coach, he went so fast that I couldn't keep up and he had to stand at the coach and wait for me. When we got to Sorrento, he walked off with the rest of the group so quickly that me and my daughter were left behind and lost him completely, we then spent the next few hours exploring ourselves as we had no idea where the rest of the group had gone. When we met back up at the bus station, he made no mention of even noticing the fact that we hadn't been with the rest of the group. Despite having a disability, I don't expect everyone to wait for me, however there was no consideration given to my situation and he just carried on as if everyone was as young as him and could move as fast as he could. We weren't the only ones in the group to mention it, we spoke to another party who agreed that he moved on too fast. Overall, Pompei was excellent and would recommend visiting but do not do this trip on a Sunday as nothing is open anywhere else, which we did not realise would be the case in a tourist destination.

  • This is a must. Do not miss this experience.

When I first read about this tour, I was like 13 hours….. how??? But I wanted to see Pompei and the Amalfi coast. This tour is worth EVERY hour. Our your guide was Rob (I think Miller was his last name). He was the BEST tour guide I’ve had in all my travels. We met at Popolo and from the time we arrived it was very organized and on time. Rob was so friendly and thoughtful. He took the time to speak to every single person in the bus numerous times. Not just about the tour, to make sure we were ok for such a long ride. As far as the information during the tour (history, pointers on what to eat, the culture , etc. ) Rob did it all and all his advice was correct. It is a long day, but honestly you do not feel it. The way the trip is broken up and the stops they make it is perfect where you’re not overwhelmed. There are plenty of bathroom breaks and opportunities to buy food. It was suggested to bring your own food, my husband and I did not and we were fine. I liked buying foods at different places. Pompei is simply amazing!!! The stuff you learn about and then seeing it. I’m so glad I had this experience. The Amalfi Coast is already known for its beauty and it did not disappoint. Having that opportunity to be on your own and explore. Rob gave excellent suggestions on what to do and where to go. For me this tour was totally worth it the 13 hours or more. The bus is comfy. It’s older but it’s fine. The driver I can’t remember his real name but his nickname was “pork chop” I think. He was amazing and safe. The tour guide at Pompei was Roberto he was also great.

  • A wonderful day trip to Pompeii and Sorento

We really enjoyed this day trip from Rome to see Pompeii and Sorento. The tour went very smoothly. Our guides were all great, especially Barbara. She was very funny and engaging with all the kids in the group. She gave both our son's a chance to be her "assistant" by holding her flag so the group could easily follow. She did an excellent job of pointing out highlights, providing interesting facts, and going into the history of the areas we're visiting. Our driver Antonio did an impressive job navigating the narrow, winding, cliff-hugging roads to Sorento. We had plenty of bathroom breaks and we'll thought out stops. They even made an extra stop on the way back when a young child needed the bathroom. Pompeii was more impressive than we expected. It was an incredible sight. We couldn't believe some of the details that were preserved, such as painted wall, decorated ceilings, and even scratched graffiti. Sorento was beautiful and a very lovely, calm place to visit in March. We want to go back to spend a few days to do it justice.

A good balanced trip in terms of information, guiding, walking, sightseeing, and chosen locations. Useful tips for what to see and how to plan other visits in the neighborhood. Pompei, as the site, the story, history, is of course impressive - happy that we visited it. March is a pleasant month for a visit as not too many crowds are there. Sorrento, on the other hand, could be more interesting when the season starts - as of April. When it’s warmer and possible to go down to the sea.
