Our first experience of Westminster Abbey, one of the jewels in London’s crown and a must see for any visitor, is in the 14th century medieval under croft. Originally used by the Benedictine monks to store food and drink - the Cellarium is now a unique restaurant, and we pause here for refreshments. (Refreshments included in the price)

Westminster Abbey itself was incredible. Frank our guide was also really good. Paying for the ‘Private’ Westminster Abbey access was not worth the extra money. We started with coffee and croissants at the Westminster Café, even though the description says that the tour was supposed to end with that. So we weren’t very hungry because we had just eaten breakfast. The tour is described as private access, but it was completely full of morning tourists when we were finally allowed into the Abbey. There was nothing private about it! I think people would be better off just buying a ticket for a regular tour and renting a headset and taking your time wondering around the Abbey

The tour doesn’t offer a lot of time at each spot the tour guide brings you. We did not get to see the tomb of unknown soldier as it was crowded and he needed to move to next exhibit. I feel like it would have been better to tour on my own with the headphones as I could pause and stay where I was as long as I wanted. Our guide those did have a lot of knowledge and clearly loved what he does. Very friendly and open to questions

My mom and I went on this tour of Westminster Abbey early in the morning on March 20th. It was our first time visiting and neither of us were very familiar with the history and cultural impact of this church besides what we’ve occasionally seen on TV. We had the absolute pleasure of having Frank as our tour guide and feel as if we lucked out being able to learn about the Abbey by such a knowledgeable and passionate man. Once a person meets Frank, it quickly becomes apparent that his love for England’s history and culture is infectious to anyone within earshot. When Frank smiled while telling the group about an exciting piece of the Abbey’s history, I unknowingly found myself smiling along side him. If anyone reading is this considering going on this tour of the Abbey all I can say is this: absolutely give it a shot and ask if you’re able to be guided by Frank, the most cheerful man in England.
