What makes this tour unique is its personalized approach to experiencing both Skagway's history and the breathtaking beauty of the Klondike Highway. You'll delve into the heart of the Gold Rush and witness stunning landscapes, from cascading waterfalls to sub-alpine vistas. The smaller group size, thanks to the nimble Toyota Sienna, allows for flexible wildlife viewing opportunities, including circling back to safely observe bears. Crossing into Canada, you'll often find sunnier skies and the chance to spot mountain goats at Lake Tutshi. The tour culminates with a visit to the Yukon Suspension Bridge (included), offering a unique perspective of the powerful Tutshi River and a taste of bison chili.

Yukon Suspension Bridge
This is a nice facility about 25 miles North of Skagway. The Bridge crosses the Tutshi River, a class 5 whitewater torrent. It's not scary at all! Incredible scenery, a nice cafeteria and gift shop. The cafeteria serves Bison Chili! The remaining time is spent driving and doing a lot of photo stops. Also the only running water bathrooms on the tour. (there are several country outhouses as well)
Pickup included

This was a wonderful experience, and Tom was an amazing guide! He was very accommodating for my disabled mother, made the trip so interesting with his immense knowledge of the area, and was a great conversationalist! We enjoyed him very much. He even sent us a few great pictures he had taken on a sunny day. 11 out of 10 is the rating! Our friends that took the train were jealous.

We had so much fun! We got the best tour guide, Tom Pickerel of Skagway Yukon Custom Van Tours. He is so expeprienced knowing Skagway in the back of his hand driving us through the fog safely on our way to Yukon suspension bridge. He made stops at places with picturesque views. He narrated historical facts and interesting information. We couldn't ask for a more enjoyable Skagway tour other than with Tom.

Tom is a gentleman, scholar and general renaissance man. Exceptionally knowledgeable about Skagway, as well as natural spots of beauty in the Yukon and surrounding areas. Tour flew by, with his personality, great humor and ability to connect with our seven year old son, key factors. Found us bears (with cubs) and mountain goats, it addition to peaceful photo spots and hospitable taverns. A true pleasure to meet and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone thinking of making a visit to Skagway. Thank you Tom.

When I arrived in Skagway I didn't want to get stuck with a tour guide that arrives for the summer hired by the cruise ships. So I asked a lot of questions of locals and learned that Tom has been a resident since the early 1980s. Since I wanted to do a photo tour he also happened to be a photographer which made it all the better. We had a wonderful afternoon exploring the mountains and lakes above Skagway and he took me to a few spots that only locals know about. More importantly he has a great personality and was enjoyable to hang around and learn from. Highly recommended! Here are a few photos from our expedition.

After seeing Thomas had been recommended on one of the cruise sites on Facebook then looking on TripAdvisor, I knew this was the tour I needed to celebrate my Birthday with! I also prefer a private tour over one full of lots of tourists. Communicating through WhatsApp prior to the tour was super easy and Thomas was extremely responsive (I’m from the UK) He met us at a very easy spot once we got off the boat and the adventures began. Throughout our 6 hours I had the pleasure of seeing the Yukon then we went into Canada which was a first for me. We saw lakes, a stunning beach, Goats up mountains and lots of Bear Poop (if you know you know)! Thomas was so knowledgeable, nothing was too much if we wanted to stop off and take pictures. He also had a wonderful sense of humor, and the time literally flew by. I even went across a suspension bridge (I’m scared of heights but it was incredible) This was literally the best day of my entire cruise and will go down as a Birthday I will never forget! The things I was able to see were truly magical! If you want to see beautiful scenery with a very professional tour guide – book Thomas IMMEDIATELY. I guarantee you will have a much better time than being on a train full of other tourists looking at trees! @Thomas Thanks for being such a wonderful host and giving me a lifetime worth of incredible memories! Until next time….
