Our usual first stop is the Bessastaðakirkja church, which was originally built in the 12th century and is one of the oldest churches in Iceland. This beautiful church is located on a hill overlooking the nearby sea and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

5.00We booked a private 6-hour tour for 999 euros to the Reykjanes Peninsula. That sounds (and is) sumptuous, BUT it was worth every penny. We were picked up by the cruise ship first, which worked out without any problems. Our needs and those of our 6-year-old children were always taken into account, we learned a lot about life in Iceland and were able to explore a lot of sights without large tourist streams. An unforgettable experience thanks to our great tourist guide Joanne.

5.00Flew into Reykjavik for a cruise and arranged for 2 private tours with these lovely folks. First one was a pickup at the airport with a short ~3 hour tour around the Reykjanes Peninsula. We got to stop at a ton of scenic areas, learn about the country and southern area, and stopped at the Blue Lagoon to see the amazing pools and hike along the lagoon. Drop off was at our hotel later in the afternoon. The following day the same driver picked us all up from the hotel and we did a Golden Circle tour to look for waterfalls, geothermal springs, lava fields, stop for lunch, more wonderful stories about the things we were seeing, and finally a drop off at the cruise ship terminal to start our trip. Our driver Peter was wonderful, very kind and patient with us (4 adults, and 2x 12 year old twins), and it made for the perfect start of our vacation around Iceland. We were able to see so many things in those 2 private tours, and being with just a group of ourselves meant we went at our pace and got to spend as much or little time as we wanted at each stop. it was the perfect tours for us and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a way to see a lot of things in a short amount of time.
