This was our favorite of all of the tours we took in Utah. Sam was an absolutely amazing guide. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and a very enjoyable experience. He is extremely knowledgeable of this area and taught us may things about geology and Puebloan history. He made sure we were safe on all of our walks. We strongly recommend Western Whiptail Adventures for touring Capital Reef. As for Sam as your guide and it will make for a wonderful experience.

Sam did an excellent job giving us a wonderful tour of Capitol Reef NP. We were able to see the Temple of the Sun, Temple of the moon, and Glass mountain. We toured various other parts of the park, and got some amazing pictures!Sam is very knowledgeable and so personable to our questions. We learned a lot of the park, it's history, rock formations and a "secret" that was AMAZING! I would highly recommend Sam for a tour here at Capitol Reef NP! You will not be disappointed!

Our half-day private tour to Temple of the Moon and Temple of the Sun with Western Whiptail Adventures was a fantastic experience and a highlight of our time near Capitol Reef National Park. Our guide, Sam, was outstanding. The tour included a fun and memorable off-roading experience, a visit to the striking Bentonite Hills, and fascinating stops at the Temple of the Moon and Temple of the Sun. Along the way, Sam shared great insight about the geology and history of the region, which made the landscape even more meaningful to explore. One especially memorable moment was seeing local ranchers rounding up a cow during our outing. Experiences like that made the day feel unique and authentic. We really enjoyed spending time with Sam and appreciated how much he shared with us throughout the tour. If you are looking for a distinctive way to explore this remote and beautiful area near Capitol Reef, we highly recommend Western Whiptail Adventures and Sam.

This off-roading tour to the Temple of the Sun and Temple of the Moon in Capitol Reef National Park was absolutely incredible—easily one of the highlights of our trip. The landscapes are otherworldly, with massive monoliths rising out of the desert and stunning views in every direction. It’s the kind of place that photos just don’t do justice. Sam, our guide, truly made the experience exceptional. He was knowledgeable, laid-back, and clearly passionate about the area. He shared great insights about the geology and history, and his recommendations for other spots to check out in and around Capitol Reef were spot-on. You can tell he really knows and loves the region. The off-roading itself was fun and added a sense of adventure without ever feeling unsafe. It allowed us to access areas we never could have reached on our own.

Awesome experience bumping around in a lifted Toyota 4 Runner. Crossed a stream and went to some of the most remote parts of Capitol Reef National Park that we’re told only one percent of visitors ever see. Our guide Sam was extremely personable and informative. He clearly has a love for geology and geological history. He came packed with drinks and snacks, which kept us well hydrated and fed. Capitol Reef is a must see when visiting the Utah national parks.

My tour with Sam was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, so fun, so flexible and made the most of the time we had together showing us all the most beautiful parts of the place he loves! Honestly, it's been one of the most favorite days I had during our month long stay in the area. Thank you Sam for answering all my questions, showing me the coolest places and making me laugh in the process. Next time I'm in the area we can continue where we left off!

What a fascinating tour! Our guide Sam couldn't have been nicer and was so knowledgeable! He picked us up at our hotel and we spent a half day together exploring rugged areas that you'd never manage on your own. We were miles off the beaten path and got to see the Temple of the Sun (400' high), The Temple of the Moon (350' high) and the Glass Mountain (which is formed of Selenite). Since it was just the three of us, we went exploring for dinosaur bones, gorgious views and learned a lot of area history. Truly a highlight on our National Park tour. Don't miss this!
