This exclusive, private tour (only your group) highlights Colonial Williamsburg's Christmas traditions and picturesque holiday decorations of our historical area. This tour provides insight about the materials, crafts people, construction and design of the wreaths and garlands adorning the exterior of most 18th Century buildings, exhibits and private homes and different judging categories. We meet at The Williamsburg Inn to admire the decorations and begin our journey to the Duke of Gloucester. We'll discuss how holidays were celebrated in 17th and 18th Centuries here in Virginia including plantations, our Capital cities and during the Revolutionary War (e.g., Continental Army). Holiday biscuits by African descendants or traditional gingerbread cookies are offered. If before 7PM, we offer hot beverages.
Note: Grand Illuminations are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of December (7pm fireworks). The Yule Log lightings are the first, second and third Fridays of December.

Very nice experience with my mom…private tour was prefect because it was at our pace and we’ve been there before many moons ago so it was nice to be able to remember things and ask questions without taking anything away from anyone else.

If you want to do something Christmas-themed in Williamsburg, this is a great choice! Bambi is a very knowledgeable guide and she gave us tons of historical information as well as great explanations of all the Christmas decorations and the materials used, etc. Some of the wreaths that are made are quite unique. It is entirely outdoors, so dress very warmly and carry some hand and foot warmers. Bambi gives opportunities to stop for hot drinks as well. It is a leisurely pace, you won’t feel rushed. And she took several lovely pictures of us as a family. Highly recommend this tour!

This was an excellent tour. Our guide provided great details as to the rules for judging the decorations, including the materials used and the manner in which the decorations are put together. She also shared what the judges are looking for to add or subtract points in selecting the winners.

Cyndi was very knowledgeable and shared historic information as well as details about the materials and construction process of the beautiful colonial decorations. We got to ask lots of questions and the walk was just the right amount of time and distance. It was nice to have just our group. The ginger cookies and hot chocolate were a nice treat! We would recommend Cyndi as a guide to anyone who enjoys history and gardening.
