3.00We have dome a number of viator sponsored walking tours of cities around Europe and this one was quite different. We had hoped to have a Rouen city expert showcase their city with history, stories and insights into the past and present of this charming city. I was asked and responded three times with things we wanted to see on our tour, but no one told our tour guide what we wanted to see in advance. Our tour guide was sweet and attentive and kind and ready to show us any sites that we wanted to see, but he had not been prepped with any of the city's history or historic knowledge about people and places. It was helpful not to have to navigate the city by map, but we truly could have done the tour ourselves and I used google throughout the tour to learn more about the cathedrals and Jeanne d'Arc and Justice Ministry and other sites. We also booked the tour for a Friday afternoon and it would have been helpful to know that the Justice Ministry, clock, Jeanne d'Arc church and other sites would be closed. Other walking city tours have been led by guides with long personal histories in their city who had an abundance of experiences, stories and history to share. We really liked our guide, but he was ill-prepared to lead a historical tour of a city and we fault the company for not preparing him better as he was a college student not a full time guide or historian.

5.00We enjoyed our private tour with Tanguy. He met us at our hotel and then we were off touring the city. Tanguy was very knowledgeable on the history the city, which made the tour enjoyable and worthwhile. Highly recommend Tanguy as a guide.

1.00Today's "3-Hour Private Custom Walking Guided Tour in Rouen" was very disappointing. While the guide was a lovely person she was not equipped to provide a "Private Custom Walking Guided Tour". When we first met we were instructed to simply download the Rouen Enigma app and follow the tour that way. The guide provided no particular insight nor did she offer any information that was not provided in the app. Advertised as a 3-Hour tour, at 2 hours the guide said she was done and left us even though the app tour was unfinished. We feel taken advantage of as the night before the tour the tour company asked if we would be willing to move our tour to another day. Apparently they were having trouble finding a guide for our previously booked tour and if fact, as described above, we were provided with an unprepared guide.
