What To Expect
Citadel of Saladin
The Citadel was fortified by the Ayyubid ruler Salah al-Din (Saladin) between 1176 and 1183 CE, to protect it from the Crusaders. Only a few years after defeating the Fatimid Caliphate, Saladin set out to build a wall that would surround both Cairo and Fustat.

5.00Nasser is awesome!!!! His knowledge of the Old Museum of Cairo, Citadel, local mosques, temples and churches is outstanding. The monuments are also stood to see in person, but Nasser brings them to life in your head whilst touring around them. I did include a photo of Nasser, you can see the emotional connection he has to the history when explaining

5.00Had a beautiful experience with Nasser from Egypt direct tours ,had an exciting time, great conversations on the history and details of the egyptian people. We took our time around the museums, mosques, markets and not forgetting a hearty meal to finish our day! Can't wait to be back again and use his services in future. He is also kind.

5.00We started our Cairo experience with another company & had a terrible experience. I happened to find Egypt Direct Tours by accident. So happy I did!!! Ahmed was our guide & he was knowledgeable, resourceful, incredibly helpful & all around a pleasure. He really delivered a superb end-to-end experience & the fee scale is very reasonable. He was prompt (early) picking my family & I up & made sure we accomplished everything we set out to do. To be completely honest, finding someone to work with who is honest & trustworthy in Cairo can be very difficult. We really lucked up when we found Ahmed. My only regret is that we didn’t have Egypt Direct Tours for the beginning of our trip; would have saved us a lot of headaches! Don’t waste time looking for another tour company; book them…you’ll be happy you did!
