It is so fun to enjoy the desert explore in Xiangshawan or Whistling Dune Bay in English, which is part of the huge Kubuqi Desert, 210km away in the south of Hohhot. It is a desert fun place with many entertainments, including cable car, desert cart, camel-riding, sand-sliding way, and desert train etc. Moreover, there are dancing performance and acrobatic show in the desert resort theater.

You can select the tour with guide or without guide. Please note the driver speaks only Chinese when you select the tour without guide, but the driver can use cell phone to translate when it is necessary. Pickup from your centrally located Hohhot hotel is at 8am.

What To Expect

Whistling Dune Bay Tourist Scienc Spot

At 8am, you will be picked up from your centrally located Hohhot hotel, then take 2.5-hour car ride to the Xiangshawan Desert, or Whistling Dune Bay in English, which is part of the huge Kubuqi Desert. There are two parts here for tourist to enjoy the camel-riding, cable car, and desert car etc. which are included in the entrance tickets. In the afternoon, you will take the car back to your Hohhot hotel where the wonderful day tour concludes.

Very good day tour from Hohhot to Xiangshawan desert. Our guide Alice was very punctual to start the tour and was very helpful all day, even providing us with face masks to protect from sandy wind. The desert area offers plenty of activities for tourists, we stayed from around 10:30 to 16:00. Our driver, mr. Wang, was very careful on the road and ensured a smooth ride from and back to our hotel.
