Cuandixia Village
Your guide will meet you in your centrally located hotel in Beijing. You will start your tour by driving to the Cuandixia Village. It takes about 2.5 hours to arrive the village. It is located on ancient post road roughly 55 miles northwest from central Beijing in the Jingxi mountain region. On the way to the village you will enjoy the beautiful mountain and countryside scenery. Cuandixia Village contains around 70 courtyard homes, which gently climb the slopes of a mountain, built by a family who migrated from Shanxi province more than 400 years ago. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the road that led through the mountains to the provinces of Hebei and Shanxi acted as a trade and passageway. The residents of Cuandixia would open their doors to travelers and serve the passing trade. Over time, the village became forgotten as expressways and train tracks changed the route to the west Lunch in the Local Family restaurant, you will enjoy an authentic countryside style food. You will end your tour around 5PM and transfer back to your centrally located hotel in Beijing.

WOW!!!! Such a perfect day in every way!!! We were picked up by the most adorable Lisa for our trip to Cuandixia. We hit it off with her from the beginning and knew we would have a fun time with her. The drive to the village was about 2.5 hours but was such a nice change going in to the mountains. It was clear and blue and so different than being in Beijing. Beautiful change of scenery! We walked through the charming village with Lisa and were able to look inside the homes for a first hand view of how people there live. We met many of the locals and they all wanted us to join them for lunch. So sweet and warm and welcoming! Just wonderful people! We finally joined a family for lunch and they made anything in the US billed as Farm to Table seem silly!!! They literally picked the vegetables from their gardensand the other delicacies we as fresh as can be and prepared and delivered them to our table. The food just kept coming. And it was some of the best we have ever eaten!!! Such an amazing experience and getting to share it with Lisa and our driver Mr. Yung was an added treat. We ate and ate and played silly games with bottle caps with Lisa. Mr Yung disappeared for a minute and brought me back Buddha praying hands carved by a local artisan. I will cherish his gift forever!
This was our last day in Beijing and to say we said goodbye in the most memorable way is an understatement. Lisa is amazing and we would highly recommend her and the kind Mr.Yung to everyone. It will be a day we will remember forever!
