Most of the visitors to South Korea consider exploring the DMZ and tend to choose Gyeonggi-do routes that are mostly commercial, but this tour would likely be much more private and less crowded. Furthermore, this is an hour's drive away from the MT Seoraksan, so if you plan to visit the Seoraksan, you would be able to enjoy two attractions on one itinerary. Additionally, on the way back, you can enjoy North Korean cuisine for lunch and grab a chance to observe traditional Korean architecture. This area was formerly part of North Korean territory before the Korean War.

Goseong Unification Observatory
You are going to visit the Korean War exhibition hall before exploring the border of North Korea. It would be much better meaningful to look at the North territory after you felt how the war was terrifying.
Goseong Unification Observatory
You will explore the border with North Korea in the Gangwondo area and view the most hostile land in the world out of the observatory.

This is one of the best tours I've had while traveling. For me, what distinguishes an excellent tour is always about the guide. Being humorous, charismatic, and kind-hearted helps (all traits Chan has in spades), but a truly great guide is also willing to vulnerably share their stories and perspectives. In my opinion, Chan does this perfectly. I learned a lot about Sokcho and the DMZ, which I was expecting. I also learned a lot about local edible berries, ideal swinging technique, how to slurp noodles noisily (wear a bib), and had a stimulating discussion about meditation. Chan's presence, curiosity, and friendliness will make the tour feel personal, warm, and connecting. I strongly recommend this tour.

One of the best things we did during our time in South Korea! Chan is knowledgeable, warm-hearted, humorous and quite clearly very passionate about his job and a great story teller, making for a very informative and engaging tour. The itinerary is structured perfectly including a delicious lunch, and the car journeys between the destinations were very comfortable. Would highly recommend!! Many thanks Chan for a brilliant day out ☺️

This was a phenomenal tour! Chan was so knowledgeable and passionate and we had so much fun. He was so kind and funny and made the time fly! He even took into account our special requests (we were finishing the haeparang trail and he helped us find the stamps and took us to our next trail starting point, with recommendations too!) We had a great time with Chan, and highly recommend his tour! It was a memorable experience with amazing food!

Mr. Chan is great! Friendly and passionate, you can tell that he truly cares about sharing the story of the DMZ and the area’s culture, additionally showing us a traditional North Korean meal and a village with homes from the 18/19th century. Truly a hidden gem and an off-the-beaten path perspective on history. Thank you Mr. Chan for your time!
