• competent private driver but not a tour guide

  We had a very competent and pleasant driver and comfortable transportation. And our day was impacted by things outside the drivers control, specifically the King being at Holyrood which impacted access to Holyrood and Arthur's Seat. However, we were expecting more of a tour guide who would narrate as we drove through different parts of the city. Our driver was polite but not at all talkative - he seemed like more of a private hire driver than a tour guide. He was unaware the King was in Edinburgh, and also was unaware the coffee shop at the national monument site was closed on Tuesdays, both things we would have expected someone leading a tour to be aware of in advance. After several other excursions with engaging tour guides at other ports, this experience didn't meet our expectations. If you're looking for a comfortable luxury drive through Edinburgh without narration, this might be good for you. but if you're looking for a fully narrated driving tour of the city, this was not it.

  Tom was a fantastic guide and we learned a lot about the history and culture of Edinburgh. Tom was accommodative of our requests and will definitely recommend this tour.
