Get your taste buds tingling on a 3-hour guided food tour of Edinburgh's Old Town, with a minimum of ten food samples. The history of Edinburgh has shaped the food eaten by its inhabitants which in turn is reflected in the city’s relationships with the world: conquest, immigration, trade, exchange, and adaptation, from Viking marauders to Italian refugees, to more recent arrivals, have all left their culinary mark on the city. Royal Mile
The Royal Mile runs through the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, connecting the magnificent Edinburgh Castle, perched high on a base of volcanic rock, with the splendorous Palace of Holyroodhouse, resting in the shadow of Arthur's Seat. The Mile is overlooked by impressive, towering tenements, between which cobbled closes and narrow stairways interlock to create a secret underground world.
University of Edinburgh
Old College is a late 18th-century to early 19th-century building of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is located on South Bridge, and presently houses parts of the University's administration, the University of Edinburgh School of Law, and the Talbot Rice Gallery.

Wonderful food/history walking tour of Edinburgh w Alec. He was a wealth of knowledge (Edinburgh and Scottish) and the 3 food stops were unique places we would have never found/tried (traditional haggis - very yummy, meat pie (vegetarian for one of us), and fish&chips Edinburgh style (fried pizza and chips w Chip Sauce).

Alec was a great tour guide as he took us back in time to explore Edinburgh. For this tour we were able to sample haggis, meat pies, and a deep fried treat that wasn't your everyday fish and chips. There was a ton of really fantastic history intertwined with sampling some of the quintessential foods that Edinburgh has to offer. I would highly recommend this company for anyone that wants a personalized experience for their visit to Edinburgh. I have future plans to visit Edinburgh and will be doing the other tours that Tardis Tours has to offer next time I visit.

We had a lovely time with our guide Ian that showed us around the old town while telling us fun and interesting facts about the food and the history of Edinburgh. It was a nice different way to tour around the city and eat like a local

Best guide. Fun and relaxed. Shared local and national history as well as personal notes throughout that made the tour so much better than a list of pre-collected facts. Customized tidbits to our interests. Wonderful storyteller. Food was lovely and perfect selection - just what we were looking for and so much more.

While eating our great breakfast and talking to Alec he found we are both avid gardeners- so the tour pivoted and he took us to hidden Edinburgh gardens. One was even on the roof of a museum with an amazing view of Edinburgh Castle. Alec had amazing stories to share, having grown up in Edinburgh. I can’t recommend him highly enough!
