What To Expect
Panama Canal
You'll get to see first hand the ship carriers in their cross from the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. While they cruise under the America's bridge you'll get to cruise right next to them, in the Canal's designated route.
You'll get to see the anchorage of the Canal's at the Panama Bay while your guide will explain how its system works. While cruising the Panama Bay, you get to appreciate the magnificent city's skyline and, depending on the time of the day you wish to depart, enjoy the Panamanian sunshine or sunset. The Panama Bay is rich in several species throughout the year, as Spanish Mackerel, snapper, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna and Tuna bonito. You get to fish no matter your level of expertise, as we will provide all equipment and the captain and deckhand will assist you.

5.00We purchased the 4-hour fishing package in Panama Bay. We met at the marina at 6am - Plenty of free parking. We were on the water by 06:20 and started fishing around 7am. Caught our first fish (Mahi) at 7:17! We caught a total of 5 fish, including a twofer/ tripleheader (caught a Blackfin Tuna and Almaco Jack on the same lure and another Blackfin Tuna on the high line at the same time)! We skirted thunderstorms and had great conversations with the captain and Moises. We were back to our car with tons of fresh fish in ice by 10:20!

1.00Operator stood us up the morning of our trip because they were double booked. They did not tell us until we were about to leave the hotel so I had to pay the driver who was going to take us. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if they had told us sooner, but we also missed out on the opportunity to do other things on our short vacation.

1.00Our trip started great. Some heckling by guide in context of my fishing experience (which he didn’t know) but I excuse that to just guy talk. We caught a few fish, which I’m grateful for. Beautiful views. Nice boat. We were prepared a bowl of mahi mahi for lunch. Cereal sized bowl with lime as condiment. Fresh fish was good but very small amount. Rest of my mahi mahi was put back in cooler. When we finished trip, we asked about fish and they said “oh we give to the dock guys”. Mind you, before trip I tipped 100 dollars, because I to am a guide on my families ranch for hunting. I know what being a guide takes and service that should be provided. I tipped additional $75 upon pulling up to dock before I asked about fish being cleaned and taken. Once they had that second tip I felt like they wanted us off that boat asap. So I guess I paid $700 for a bowl of mahi. I guess were just cheap half day clients….

5.00The captain and his assistant were so courteous and helpful. We really enjoyed the views and the boat ride- it was so relaxing! The boat was super clean and looked even better in person! We hooked up our music to their bluetooth and we had a great time! we highly recommend Gem charters!

5.00Took my 4 grandsons 11-19 years of age fishing with Gem. They had a blast and were successful in all getting fish. The captain and crew were very helpful keeping an eye on them and helping them catch and land their fish. No hesitation in doing it with them again.
