Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre

Our tour guide will pick up you around 8am from your hotel or Airport. Head to first stop at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. It was established in 1964 to return orphaned "apes back to the wild". The centre was being administered by the wildlife section of the Forestry Department which in 1988 was upgraded as a department under the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Development. All administration and management was given to the new Wildlife Department of Sabah. At 10:00 am Proceed to Platform B, observe man's closest relative a 'the Orang Utans being rehabilitated to become wild in their natural habitat and experience a walk in the Tropical Lowland Dipterous Forest of Borneo and later watch a 25 minutes scheduled video documentary show.

Then move on to Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, promote sun bear conservation in Borneo through animal welfare, conservation, rehabilitation, education and research - giving captured sun bears a better home and restoring their right to live in the wild, by A Creating the capacity to confiscate, rehabilitate and release suitable orphaned and ex-captive bears back into the wild & providing an improved long-term living environment for captive bears that cannot be released. Educating the public and raising awareness about this species. Achieving increased protection for sun bears and their habitat through ongoing research, increased knowledge and awareness, and further protection of habitat. Interesting visit with a very educated and pleasant private driver. However we expected a lunch in local restaurant , this was not the case big disappointment as we had lunch at the cafeteria in the center of Sepilok orang outan 😔 This dear to us for this service.

3 visits one more beautiful than the other: seeing the orangutans and honey bears up close is a unique thing. Our guide was very kind and nice; convenient transport both outward and back!

AS you cancelled the tour why are you asking me to write a review The tour was booked to commence at 0800hrs on Monday 15th Sept. Received a message on Sunday night that our guide was unavailable so the tour was cancelled and did I want to rebook for Tuesday. No effort was made to suggest an alternative tour just if not convenient to swap to tuesday they will refund(had to fly to NZ on Tuesday).SOLUTION barman at the hotel organised a driver and we went to all the tour highlights and two extra ones for less than the tour company was charging. He spoke good english and had excellent local knowledge. I think I got a better outcome

Magnificent experience, we were lucky enough to see the alpha male of the orangutans, more beautiful walk in the rain forest and to see the Sun bears. The guide Sity was very good giving us many useful explanations. Recommendedasimo

We had our tour cancelled four hours earlier. In the end we did it the next day. The driver who took us very nice but there is no guide to explain anything about the animals. It is very expensive, it can be done on your own for less than half. You feel ripped off.

Got to visit the Orangutan sanctuary, sun bear Sanctuary (next door) and the rainforest discovery centre with entrance fees paid. Not really a tour but a taxi service as did not provide any Information or act as a guide. English was very basic and hence limited conversation. Lunch was at the on site cafe and given RM 100 (approx £20 ) for 5 of us to buy lunch ourselves. Not good value and poor quality compared to other tours on Viator . We could have done ourselves using airport taxi

The Best guide ever! She took good care of us and was very professional and polite. She also had interesting facts to tell about orang utans, sunbears and the wildlife in Malaysia and Southeast Asia in general. So much we saw and experienced!

I enjoyed my day enormously. Saher, my driver, made me feel comfortable at all times, was as interested in the birds, animals and plants as me, and was full of information. The Rainforest walk was amazing, as were the Orangutans and Sun Bears.
Sebah. Sandakan. This trip is worth everything, it’s a must to see proboscis , macaques, orangutans and honey bears

Amazing days experience with Siti and her driver. Went to all the different areas to see all the different monkeys , apes with her Truly a great experience. Certainly got up close at times Might be hot very hot here in temperature but well worth all the driving around What a day. I will never forget this trip

Busy place but great to see orangutan free to roam. Was lucky to see them above the path as well as at the feeding locations. Watching them interact, play and their agility was a fabulous experience. Such gorgeous animals being cared for and protected. Only caveat was hearing the elephants and not being able to see them.
