The title will make sense in a minute; first off, this is a great walking tour with some really tasty foods to sample at each of the 4 stops. What makes this tour incredible is the tour guide, Cristina. She has such a fun and warm personality and makes the whole experience so much fun. Cristina has a unique background and narrative when it comes to food and adds a really interesting layer to the food tour as she dives deeper into her studies and opinions on Ecuadorian food here on the islands. To be fair, this food tour spends less time on explaining the technical details of each dish, nor does it focus on palette feel, or how each dish is made. What this tour does provide, is a really enjoyable guide and so fantastic conversation along with a great walk thru the town. Cristina is a native islander, and has a wealth of life experience and stories that she was so happy to share with us. She also seemed to know everyone as we walked thru the town. She was always bumping into folks she knew, or knew her, and all the restaurant staff and owners/chefs would light up when we arrived and she would walk us straight to our table. At one point during the evening, my wife and I had to stop her and ask, “how is it you know all these stories and all these people”? And she said she loves living her life and meeting people, saying “It’s nice to be curious” This tour was on the higher price level, but we felt it was a great way to spend ~3 hours walking the city on the second night we arrived. Cristina adds such a fun energy and the tour is more than just the 4 restaurants (no spoilers, but we did get some extra stops and of course the great souvenir as mentioned in tour description). The walk thru the town helped us learn the streets as well, so we were much more comfortable walking around the remaining days of our trip, thanks to this tour. Highly recommend, this was time and money well spent!
